Over Land and Sea
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She guards their eyrie
Silent and still she waits
over the next generation
letting no harm befall her eggs
~
The nest carefully woven
Intertwining twigs and branches
A circle of love
in which they’ve planted
~
Eaglets’ hunger catered to
Fed from beak to beak
until the time of fledglings’ flight
Soaring over land and sea.
Our family went to visit Little River Nature Park.
It’s about a 15 minute drive away from our home,
and these pictures were all taken while we were there.
One of our sons spotted the eagle nest above us and pointed it out to me.
There were ducks and a busy beaver in the park too.
Once again my husband has shared a gem with us
that he discovered while on one of his service calls;
now I’ve shared it with you.
* I’m posting two extra posts this week
as I will be taking a few weeks off from this blog starting in July. *
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not faint.
Hi Wendy
Great poem and fantastic beautiful pictures
Beautiful pictures… thank you.
Thank you, Pastor Rob! 🙂
That’s quite a perch and a very well built nest in the crook. Woe befall anyone who makes the mistake of climbing that tree.
You’re not kidding… she watched us very carefully. 🙂
I love the strong elements of family care and love in the poem, the picture, and the experience with your whole clan! Beautiful!
Thank you! It was an impromptu trip that was especially blessed because all five of us went together.
Wendy, I love your poem and photographs.The way you describe the nest as ‘a circle of love’ is just wonderful. Perfect! I love eagles, we used to see them when we were living in Scotland. I see hawks and the beautiful Red Kites quite frequently.
Blessings
Thank you! The sight of an eagle always stirs my heart. Lately, they have been soaring high over our neighborhood.
How very beautiful. Isn’t it easy to see what a wonderful metaphor the eagle is for God’s loving care?
I agree, Victoria, that it is a most suitable metaphor. 🙂
Beautiful photos and enjoy your time off from blogging 🙂
