Princess of the perennial border
ruffled satin, sweet, and pure
pretty perfumed elegance
A royal profile – yet demure
Thorns protect her heart’s virtue
lest a careless hand be nigh
They will pierce the haphazard
for just a prince may stay her side
Many others have sought this lady
But chastity doth guard her soul
Providence has blessed each petal
that she’d be kept for Him alone.
I love roses!
What’s your favorite flower?

How lovely, Wendy!
Thank you, Sue!
So beautiful ~ I wonder if we were to actually smell His grace ~ if it would have the scent like your roses! ~ Blessings~
The fragrance of His grace is surely a potpourri of all the finest flowers…thank you for planting a lovely thought in my mind.
Wonderful verse! You are so talented. And I love roses too. Hard to pick what my favorite flower is, but they are definitely in the top 10!
Thank you! I love all fragrant flowers…especially roses and humble sweet-peas.
Beautiful Wendy! I like most flowers, roses, orchids, petunias, snapdragons… But I really, really love wildflowers, and I really, really love cornflowers! So pretty and vibrant. 😀
Thank you,Cheryl! I am posting a poem with wildflower pictures next Friday…
Hallelujah! I look forward to it. This one was just beautiful. 🙂
Lovely!! I too love roses. So thanks for sharing these pictures !!
Thank you, Arindam! 🙂
Beautiful! Thanks so much. I just planted roses last year – gifts from our three children!
Wanda, roses that bring good memories with them are the best!
Roses, roses, roses. Beautiful.
Wonderful words, beautiful photos. I love, love, love roses. I can almost smell the perfume of the first photo (it’s a Double Delight yes?)
Lyn, I don’t know the names of most of my roses. The first one blooms twice, but the second rose is the one that has the most beautiful fragrance (like Avon’s “Roses, Roses”).

I REALLY LIKE ROSES!!!!
Thank you, Jonathan!
Beautiful! I love the second to last the most, I think. I wish I had a decent camera these days. My first creative love was photography! 🙂
Thank you, Jennifer! I’m hoping for a new camera for getting better zoom ability for wildlife shots…in the meantime I love taking macro pictures.
They are lovely. 🙂
I love your post … think I can smell your roses, dear Wendy 🙂 My favorite flowers are wild-flowers …
Heidi, your lovely words have left a fragrance of kindness here… thank you!
My tied-for-favourite flowers are roses and lilies. The wild roses will soon be blooming here – and the ‘tame’ ones aren’t far behind. I love the fragrant ones… A lovely thought that the thorns are protection from harm!
Melody, I agree that fragrant roses are the best. The second rose pictured I brought with me from our old place because it has a lovely perfume.
How I admire your roses! Beautiful poem as well.
Thank you, Mollie! 🙂
Wendy, there’s nothing like a rose and you’ve captured these beautifully.
Thank you, Don! I wish I could post their fragrance. 🙂
Nice poem and great pictures of the roses.Roses must not be always red.
I, too, am glad that they come in so many different colors.
what a dream made from petals ! I love Camille, gardenias and azaleas ~ thank you for a gorgeous post!
Thank you, Debbie, for your beautiful comment! I adore the fragrance of gardenias.
I loved the pictures of the various rose varieties. My mother used to raise roses, and the pictures bring back wonderful memories of those roses.
Sheryl, I confess that I only began to love roses when I found them growing in the garden of our first home. They won my heart for keeps!
Very much enjoyed all of your pictures of roses!! My favorite flower is a White Rose.
Yes, the white roses are always so elegant, Teresa.
I love flowers. Thank you for sharing your beautiful roses and your kindness.
Thank you for your visit! 🙂
I love roses too, and your photos are lovely, but my favorite is the daffodil 🙂
You’ve picked a safe flower – the deer won’t bother them at all. I love this about daffodils.
Favorite flower…love them all!
A mixed bouquet is lovely!
So much truth in beautiful poetry–gorgeous roses!
Thank you for your encouragement!
Hello Wendy- Lee! 🙂 I love roses! They are so beautiful and smell so good. Your world is full of sunshine and mine is starting to rain! Lol Complete opposites, yet the same! I hope your world is beautiful….Hugs Paula xxxxx
Hi Paula! We have rain this week too. It is keeping my gardens watered. 🙂 xo
Haha! Now that’s a positive way at looking at a dreary day! You are bright and beautiful, Wendy-Lee! Hugs xxxxx
I love the yellow ones with that slight blush of pink. Beautiful.
Thank you, Linda! Sweet fragrance always wins my heart.
You spelled out so nicely the thoughts that I could not put together. This post is after my own heart. I love roses too. 🙂
very beautiful, Wendy! Roses are beautiful indeed , my favourite flowers are wildflowers 🙂
Thank you! Next Friday I will post more wildflowers from my recent hike.
Thanks for liking my blog. It seems we have similar goals in mind, to care for the earth as a steward. I look forward to seeing more of your beautiful flowers.
Thank you. I was happy to see some good news about the bees in the link you posted. And, yes, we are to be good caretakers – not possessors of the earth. 🙂
Oh wow they are so beautiful. Roses the best of all flowers!
Thank you! Fragrant ones are my favorite.
Mine too, but they are all so beautiful, and sometimes like looks makes up for less fragrance.
So true! 🙂
I love the portraits of the roses.
Thank you! They are easier than birds to photograph. 🙂
You asked about my favourite flower, roses are so beautiful, nothing better than sticking your nose in one! Arrgh the scent! But my all time favourite flower has to be the humble daisy! She is so brave, she will grow anywhere she can, in nooks and crannies, on dirt paths, drive ways, the sides of motorways, she looks so fragile yet she is strong and never complains! That’s my favourite flower, she reminds me even though I am a women with all the things that’s go with that! I am strong and can over come anything!
You are so right about daisies being resilient. Giving birth to each of my three children really increased my admiration for all women ( and for my husband who has enabled me to be a stay-at-home mom). Parenthood isn’t for the fainthearted, but it does fill us with joy. 😉
