Roses Reign in the Garden

Roses Reign

~~~~~~~~~~~
Princess of the perennial border
ruffled satin, sweet, and pure
pretty perfumed elegance
A royal profile – yet demure
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Thorns protect her heart’s virtue
lest a careless hand be nigh
They will pierce the haphazard
for just a prince may stay her side
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Many others have sought this lady
But chastity doth guard her soul
Providence has blessed each petal
that she’d be kept for Him alone.
  1. Beautiful Wendy! I like most flowers, roses, orchids, petunias, snapdragons… But I really, really love wildflowers, and I really, really love cornflowers! So pretty and vibrant. 😀
  2. Wonderful words, beautiful photos. I love, love, love roses. I can almost smell the perfume of the first photo (it’s a Double Delight yes?)
    1. Lyn, I don’t know the names of most of my roses. The first one blooms twice, but the second rose is the one that has the most beautiful fragrance (like Avon’s “Roses, Roses”).
  3. Beautiful! I love the second to last the most, I think. I wish I had a decent camera these days. My first creative love was photography! 🙂
  4. My tied-for-favourite flowers are roses and lilies. The wild roses will soon be blooming here – and the ‘tame’ ones aren’t far behind. I love the fragrant ones… A lovely thought that the thorns are protection from harm!
  5. I loved the pictures of the various rose varieties. My mother used to raise roses, and the pictures bring back wonderful memories of those roses.
  6. Hello Wendy- Lee! 🙂 I love roses! They are so beautiful and smell so good. Your world is full of sunshine and mine is starting to rain! Lol Complete opposites, yet the same! I hope your world is beautiful….Hugs Paula xxxxx
  7. You spelled out so nicely the thoughts that I could not put together. This post is after my own heart. I love roses too. 🙂
  8. Thanks for liking my blog. It seems we have similar goals in mind, to care for the earth as a steward. I look forward to seeing more of your beautiful flowers.
    1. Thank you. I was happy to see some good news about the bees in the link you posted. And, yes, we are to be good caretakers – not possessors of the earth. 🙂
  9. You asked about my favourite flower, roses are so beautiful, nothing better than sticking your nose in one! Arrgh the scent! But my all time favourite flower has to be the humble daisy! She is so brave, she will grow anywhere she can, in nooks and crannies, on dirt paths, drive ways, the sides of motorways, she looks so fragile yet she is strong and never complains! That’s my favourite flower, she reminds me even though I am a women with all the things that’s go with that! I am strong and can over come anything!
    1. You are so right about daisies being resilient. Giving birth to each of my three children really increased my admiration for all women ( and for my husband who has enabled me to be a stay-at-home mom). Parenthood isn’t for the fainthearted, but it does fill us with joy. 😉
