Shower Me With Blooms
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shower me with blooms
upon a springtime morn
when night’s shadows pass away
and a new day has been born
Shower me with blessings
as I greet another day
with raindrop painted petals
freshly opened on display
Shower me with grace
and flowery fragrant truth
collecting drops of mercy
that reflect the light of You
Shower me with your Word
removing sin’s dark scar
and grant me now your Agape Love
to fill my ready heart.
Wendy/2013
Agape is a Greek word referring to non-romantic, self-sacrificing, and unconditional love.
God is love. 1 John 4:8
On a recent Saturday, just after dawn, I noticed how lovely the raindrops looked in the morning light. Special thanks to my handsome husband for making morning coffee and to my little dog who helps me get outside – the first thing each day!
Peace-giving as always. Made me sad, though. Our rhododendron went to the compost pile in the sky last year. But our yellow tree peony has flourished, almost like it wants to make up for it!
My garden favors rhododendrons; whereas my peonies would prefer less shade. My condolences for the loss of your rhodo… 🙂 I don’t have a tree peony (yet).
I am just getting to many of my favorite blogs, after a busy string of days–end of school year, weekend with family…wonderful, sweet times! This poem is precisely what I was trying to explain to my precious little one before bed: the idea of unconditional love (from God and her parents/brother) no matter what. I also was praying for her to know the beauty of a new day, both literally and figuratively. She made some poor choices right before bed that left some family members with hurt feelings and her with lots of tears.
I want her to know this love, this grace, this transformation as she learns to know Jesus more and more. “Jesus Loves Me” and “Amazing Grace” are the “soothing songs” she asks me to sing often before bed. May those words sink in to all our hearts!
Your pictures remind me of the significance of water to represent freshness and life and reflection…wow, I am struck anew over how God reveals himself to us when once our eyes have been opened!!
Alison, I find it exciting that our eyes are opened more and more over time. Even in rereading a portion of scripture I will see new things (for me anyways…) that He reveals.
Blessings to you & your dear family xo
