I went out to the back woodland garden to photograph flowers
and found that I was not alone in my appreciation of the cheerful blooms.
This was the most cooperative bumblebee I have ever met.

Daffodil Dance

Daffodils dance
under moody spring skies
Delightful rays of sunshine
March before our eyes
led by snowdrop splendor
and crowds of crocuses too
side by side grape hyacinths
under a canopy just as blue

The following poem was written by my (almost) 13 yr old daughter.
We dedicate it to all the mothers who read this blog.
She composed it out loud,
as I was rushing about the kitchen,
just before listening to her piano practice.
I love her evening recitals.

The Busy Bee

What do I see?
A busy bee
buzzing from flower to flower
never giving herself
a moments rest
working hour after hour

I believe God must have smiled to himself
as He designed spring blooms
knowing that they would delight and warm our hearts
after winter’s icy cold fingers had been pried off our gardens.
Easter’s events pried the grip of sin and death
from those who believe and trust in the risen Christ.

Bees and Blooms Blessings ❀ Wendy

PS – What’s blooming in your garden or neighborhood?
~
Here, unfortunately, not much blooming. I hope that there will soon be warmer and again I can see a lot of flowers.
Greetings
Gabi
Gabi, I hope that when the blooms begin they will make up for lost time. I’ve been enjoying the animal pictures you’ve posted.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Great post, the poems and pictures, to both of you!
Thank you, Steve, I passed on the compliment to my daughter.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂
Uplifting and encouraging–spring IS going to happen! All we have right now are crocus and a few brave daffodils.
I agree that daffodils are brave. Ours withstood hail when they first started to bloom – but just seeing the daffodils survive gave me hope. And sure enough, one week of warmth awakened the entire garden!
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
So beautiful! No flowers yet in NYC, I do see blossoms peeking out!
Can’t wait to bask in Spring’s gentle glow! (My favorite line hehe)
Lele, I hope you are able to get out soon and enjoy the blossoms to the fullest when they open…and bask in the gentle glow! 🙂 I love having tea in the garden.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
I wish I was your neighbor! Tea and I are best-friends. Blessings!
🙂
What a joyful and delightful posting!
Thank you, Mollie!

I especially love “daffodil goblets” and I did enjoy your daughter’s poem. God bless you.
🙂 I’ll let Kara know!
Beautiful photos.
Thank you, David!
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂
Every photo, every poem – wonderful! I am very glad the bumblebee was cooperative for your photoshoot.
Thank you, Mary Ann! I wondered if it was okay until it flew away after the “photoshoot”! 🙂

I love that you got to compose poetry alongside your daughter. Her piece is wonderful and makes me think of the busyness of parents–as well as bees! I get such a thrill reading what my son writes…I have to brag for a moment: a creative piece he wrote, about 350 words long, took first place at the state level for fine arts from Christian schools. I’m beaming.
I am excited to check out your new weekly Word site! I enjoy all your writing and photographs.
I think pollen is in high bloom down here!! All joking aside, A and I noticed all sorts of colors last week in trees that hadn’t been there before. It’s my favorite time of year…and partly because I still enjoy celebrating my birthday: 36 this weekend. God is so very good!!
Must wake up A so we can pick up L from school! Many blessings, friend! –Alison
Alison, congratulations to you and your son for the first place!
Happy 36th birthday blessings, dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Looks like spring has well and truly arrived, and that Kara is following in her mother’s footsteps! Thanks for another lovely post, Wendy,
best wishes
Julian
Julian, Kara was reacting to my busyness and inadvertently composed one as she entered the kitchen. I asked her where she heard that, and she said that she just made it up, as I reminded her of a bee… I think she has the poetry bug!!
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂
Thanks for that Wendy, Lovely!
Great poems and pictures of flowers. Here it is syberisch cold and no blooming flowers.
Thank you! I hope your weather warms up so that the flowers awaken soon.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
loving your post … makes me long for the flowers to bloom in my garden … soon 🙂
Heidi, I’ll think of you when I enjoy the blooms, and will you think of me when you are in the woods? I sometimes miss our old quiet and private forest… for everything there is a season, and I am where I am supposed to be.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Beautiful post, both the writing and images! Thank you for visiting my blog!
Cari, thank you for your visit too!
Blessings dear new friend ~ Wendy 🙂
Beautiful photos! Love the colors and the bees!
Thank you, Heather, for your visit and comment!
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Um – a snowstorm ‘bloomed’ today. *sigh* But your daffodils cheer me up – especially the idea that they are goblets ready for a bee-taster’s convention! How fun is that? 🙂
Melody, that bumblebee was acting like it was a goblet of something alright! I even tipped the flower a bit and he didn’t care. Finally it had it’s fill and flew off. Sorry to hear about the snowstorm. It sure makes for good pictures the next day…
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo (I miss C.V.)
Yes, spring has sprung…so beautiful seeing God’s handiwork so brightly before our eyes…..you got very close to that bee!
Hi Laurie! I sure love spring. Insects are one of the things I like to photograph too.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Your photos were fun and full of color…They were greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Charlie! I really enjoy photography.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂
Lovely pictures, Wendy!! I wish I had a garden full of spring flowers.. It’s still too cold here. No flowers and no bees yet! Nice poems, your daughter’s got your talents 🙂
Thank you, Calee, for encouraging my daughter! 🙂 I look forward to your posts. She likes to take pictures too. We share ideas of what and how to photograph flowers etc. in the garden…
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Hello Wendy-Lee! *waving* Your world is blooming. 🙂 I hope your having a great weekend! Hugs from Oz……Paula xxx
Hi Paulama! I’ve been gardening, photographing, and writing my brains out this weekend! 🙂 Now I can’t sleep. It must have been the chocolate or the coffee at lunchtime. I hope that you have been able to visit your babies this weekend. Hugs!
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Haha! Coffee and chocolate? *Ack* I wouldn’t sleep either. lol
I went and said goodbye to them, as I leave for the U.K on Friday morning. (3am) Hugs Paula xxx
As always enjoyed your post – and the comments. We have a few crocus and snowdrops in bloom, the scilla and helleborus are in bud, but no bees.
Kara has the poet gene!
Enjoy all your bugs and blooms!
Thank you! I am enjoying our “bugs and blooms”… except for the spiders that show up in the house. I hope the bees arrive at your place soon so that they’ll be ready for pollinating fruit etc.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂
gorgeous flowers, makes me envious as we are still getting snow and cold weather…I see you had a friend along while you were taking the photos Wendy…
Thank you, Heather! I hope your white scenery turns green soon. Today I was battling dandelions by digging them up. I have managed to keep them mostly at bay. My compost likes them though! 🙂
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo

He he. A workout with words indeed. Not quite the same is an online dictionary. I was balancing a (maybe) five pound Websters on my lap!
To the floor, back up again…
You had a walk out, work out too! Lovely photos and verse.
Thanks for your visits.
I love visiting your blog, Jules! It is always a treat and inspiring.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
revitalising colours, refreshing words – thank you! I love bees too!
Thank you, Freya! I’m glad to hear that you love bees too. We need them… and they need us to take better care of the planet. 🙂
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Lovely photos. I found you through Violetwisp- I hope we are both “intellectually sound- to a degree”.
Last week snow still lay.
Shirt, sweater, scarf, coat, boots, gloves.
Saturday: short sleeves!
Thank you, Clare, for your wonderful haiku! I can’t claim to be “intellectually sound” – but I have been called “different” or “cute” and a few other things. Nice to meet you!
Blessings dear new friend ~ Wendy 🙂
Gorgeous photos! I’m delighted to find someone else with such an interest in bees and flowers. I have an informal competition going on with a couple of fellow atheist bloggers. I’d like to say I’m winning, but they have really fancy cameras! (I’m still winning)
It’s nice to hear that you are winning without a fancy camera. My camera is not fancy either. One day I hope to upgrade…but for now I enjoy the simplicity of mine. Thank you for your visit.
Blessings dear new friend ~ Wendy 🙂
I can appreciate you view in terms of nature £ the glory of God….many blessings Wendy to you & your family
Pj
Thank you, Pj! “He makes everything glorious!”
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂
Thank you for the wonderful walk through your springtime garden! We still have cold and gray weather here (mostly mud and dead grass). A few brave crocuses are poking up finally. I can’t wait for the daffodils!
I love your poetry and your daughter’s excellent poem, too. Thank you for liking my recent blog post, too.
Thank you for your encouraging words to both of us! 🙂 It won’t be long before your crocuses are joined by other flowers to sing a welcome to spring.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
It’s lovely to see such beautiful photographs of spring. (It’s still winter here)
Thank you, Cheryl! I hope your spring arrives soon.

Ive no doubt you’ve received this award several times before but here you are again. 🙂
Thank you for honoring me with a nomination! I will post a thank you, soon, for recent nominations – as I no longer participate in awards. Congratulations on your award! 🙂

I just discovered your lovely photos and poetry! Delightful, indeed!
Sue, I like your blog also. I’m so glad to meet you. 🙂
Blessings dear new friend ~ Wendy xo
Oh my goodness Wendy, what a wonderful post!! I missed it somehow, so sorry!
You took me on a sunny stroll through your garden of words and pictures. Such an absolute delight. And the poem by your daughter is brilliant!
I see you are a very good photographer too! I am just beginning photography as a new hobby; my main interest is close ups of flowers. i know nothing yet and still use auto focus. I am doing it as a challenge for my hands, which are weak with the MS. I have noticed that bite switches are available out there to click the shutter but while ever my hands work a little, then I intend to use them. I may even start a separate blog for my flower pictures, mainly as a record for me of any progress I may or may not make. Watch this space!! 🙂
And of course I loved your nonet. 🙂
I am so pleased to have found you.
Love and blessings
Christine
Christine, I take pictures using a very modest camera. It does not necessarily take a complicated one to take decent pictures. I think it’s more about the passion behind the camera. 🙂 Taking pictures of things you truly love can’t help but be beautiful. I take several shots and choose the best… I only post, here, once a week (on Wednesdays) so it’s easy to miss my posts. Thank you for your kind comment!
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Wendy! Thank ou so much for your reply to my comment. It has given me a whole new perspective on my attempts at photography. I have always been a perfectionist, which is a very debilitating character trait, which I have been working on for a few years, and I have lost most of it, but it creeps back. It has been creeping with the photography and I think I am expectig more than I can physically manage.
So I will carry your words with me. Because, of course, you are absolutely right! It is exactly that, the passion behind the camera and taking pictures of things we truly love.. Thank you 🙂
Blessingsand love
