Frozen in Time

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some lives appear to be frozen in time
as everything abruptly comes to a halt
Gifts remain unwrapped and untouched under trees
while others search out who’s at fault
Some hearts appear to be frozen in time
when lost ones leave them suddenly to grieve or despair
Parents are wishing they could turn back the clock
and keep their dear children away from there…
Some moments appear to be frozen in time
as last words spoken swirl around and around
Loved ones retrace every second of last embrace
searching for hints of lingering love still to be found
Some days appear to be frozen in time
when moving ahead feels like an abandonment of love
Meanwhile little ones are in the Father’s gentle care
anticipating arrival of parents to their Home above.
I cannot imagine the depth of anguish and the piercing pain of losing a child that you’ve loved and held.
When I remember that my miscarried children are waiting for me in Heaven, it makes the anticipation of the future homecoming even sweeter.  It will be a blessed reunion!
  1. Beautifully expressed as always. God has given you tender words with which to mourn. We grieved and remembered in our church, as well…and had our hearts pointed again to the hope we have in Jesus. Stand firm and pray; we must keep trusting.
    I thought of my little babies, too, who I’ll meet for the first time in heaven. My children have gotten many extra hugs and reminders of our love and God’s love. My husband told our little boy this morning what had happened. They prayed together.
    Blessings to you and your family. –Alison
    1. Last night, on the Canadian radio station, I heard a note read out that a parent of a child who was killed in CT wrote. It mentioned that they were looking ahead to seeing their child who had gone to heaven before them. That family recently moved from Canada to CT. Hope is such a healing balm!
      Blessings to you & your loved ones, Alison.
  2. Yes, how sweet the reunion will be. This grief is so hard for me, I can’t imagine what it must be like for those families. God bless you abundantly–love, sis Caddo
  3. Thank you for helping us, comforting us , with this poem and photos, dear Wendy. Praying for those frozen in grief right now, for His love to cover them completely. God bless you and your gifts, that you use for Him, sweet friend!
    1. Debbie, I was so relieved and touched, today, when our pastor prayed with all of us for CT. You are so correct that they need a prayer covering. As I type this it looks like we are getting our first covering of snow this year. I can see it through the den window behind me…
  4. Hi Wendy-Lee! When my mum was pregnant with me, the doctor told her she had miscarried! (I’ll spare you the details as to why) So, she went about her business as if she was no longer pregnant! Then one day, she felt something moving inside her! Yip,me!! *laughing* back to the doctor to find out she was still pregnant. They told her that she was more than likely carrying twins and she lost one. How this happens,I have no idea? So, do you think I would meet her one day? or is this not possible? Sorry you lost your baby! 🙁 xx
    1. I truly believe from the depths of my heart that the Lord brings the babies unborn or born to himself when they die. The Bible talks about how He knew us in our mother’s womb. My sister could not talk while she was here and so I believe we’ll catch up on everything when we meet in Heaven. Jesus went ahead to prepare a home for all who will believe in him. He died and rose again to pay the sin debt we owe. He invites anyone to put their trust in him. I’ve had several early miscarriages that I know of. There may be more little ones of mine than I know of. 🙂 All the more to hug!
      1. That’s cute!! Like I said before! you make him sound wonderful. If he’s a forgiving god then maybe when I die, he’ll forgive me for not believing in him! *hugs* my Wendy-Lee!! xxx
        1. Paulama, good morning! And I guess it is goodnight to you, dear friend. Your comment reminds me of a portion of the New Testament that I love. At the last moment a man chooses to believe in Jesus, as he is approaching death, and the Lord promises him that he will be with him in Paradise. It is in Luke 23:32-43 You can probably Google it if you don’t already have a Bible. It is one of my favorite passages.
          We finally got snow last night! My kids are happy about it. 🙂 “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…”
  5. Beautiful Wendy.
    “when moving ahead feels like an abandonment of love…”
    So perfectly described.
    One of my favorite quotes in response to that very dilemma I read some time ago after my grandmother passed in a book by Tony Cooke titled “Life after Death.”
    He wrote:
    “Missing someone you love is a tribute to that person and to his or her influence in your life. Moving forward, making the necessary adjustments, and finding new purpose for yourself is a tribute to God and His influence in your life.”
    Those words really helped me and showed me how it is possible to start moving forward, still missing your loved one, but not allowing your grief to keep you frozen in time.
    1. Charity, that is an awesome quote! I have been through several losses, and I always come to the conclusion that the person would want me move forward and continue to love those around me. But there is a season of deep grieving that must be allowed to flow through its natural course first… and hopefully not stagnate into a perpetual pool of mourning but a stream that moves ahead and is fed by the Lord’s tender mercies. My prayer is that I and others become sweet and not bitter waters through our times of grief.
      I loved your comment and I hope I remember those words for the next sad phone-call…
      Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy
