My faith is not shallow because I’ve been rescued from the deep. This is always the first thing I think of when I hear the word deep. Years ago, I had a battle with the mirror. I was losing.
• I lost too much weight.
• I lost my menstrual cycle.
• I lost my serenity.
Then someone admitted to me they were in a battle with eating disorders. That’s when I realized there was a name for what I was going through.
It was a relief to find out I wasn’t alone in my craziness. It was an answer to prayer to hear my friend’s confession. I went to see a specialist and was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa and bulimia.
God diagnosed me as someone who needed to ask my church to pray for me. He healed me by drawing me closer to Him through prayer, Bible reading, and journal writing.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
Real friends aren’t afraid to share the deep with you. Sometimes someone is helped—even saved—because a person dared to speak daring words. This is what motivates me to share about the deep places I’ve been through. Maybe someone else will be encouraged to seek help for their situation.
I’m nosy-to-know if you have a battle story someone needs to hear.
He reached from on high and took hold of me;
He drew me out of deep waters.
Psalm 18:16 NIV
~
In my darkest valley
I stumbled and fell to earth
And cried out for healing
When I was at my worst
In my darkest valley
The Lord shone His Light
So I wouldn’t perish
When hope was far from sight
In my darkest valley
Morning finally dawned
And I was rescued
By arms loving and strong.

Rescued from the deep blessings ~ Wendy Mac
Wendy, what a testimony! Thank you for sharing your story! It has amazed me through the years how God has used my brokenness that resulted from my parents’ divorce to reach children I’ve taught who were experiencing the same pain. I agree wholeheartedly that “sharing our daring words” can help others while healing us too! Your #fmf neighbor, Cindy
Thank you, dear Cindy. What you’ve just shared is an excellent example of allowing God to work and speak daring words through the pain from your past. Blessings.
God Bless you Wendy!💋
Thank you, dear friend. <3
Thank you so much, Wendy, formsharing your story and testimony of how God rescued you. Wow, He is so good. Always. I had drug and alcohol abuse problems , as well as being suicidal. I read in a book that I can’t remember the title and author of – sorry! – to pray for Him to help me want to want to give up my addictions, if I couldn’t honestly say I wanted to give them up. Yep . . .He answered that prayer and rescued me too! :). Love and blessings and joys!
So,sorry for the typo. ‘ for sharing’ not formsharing! :/.

Thank you, dear Deb, for sharing with me how daring words in a book can be used to draw people to healing in Christ. What a wonderful testimony you have in Him. And your faithful blogging is a blessing to many of us sisters and brothers. <3
I am so glad you were rescued from the deep and that you are sharing your good news with others. It is a powerful story.
Thank you, dear friend. The view is broad and bright from this side of recovery. I’m grateful.
Your courage inspires me.
Thank you, Damon. It’s my heart’s desire to inspire.
Good for you on sharing your testimony of how, when and why God rescued you from the depths of an eating disorder. May God continue to use this and other of your stories to bless those who need to hear them. Amen, Sister!
Thank you, dear Sharon. Amen to God continuing to work goodness through the stories of His children.
Dear Wendy, I am so glad that God rescued you and set you in His heart! How beautiful here: “Real friends aren’t afraid to share the deep with you.” What a gift you bring when you share the comfort that the Lord has brought to you. I am so thankful for the DEEP love that is in your heart. You are a blessing.
Thank you, dear Bettie. I’m grateful He continues the good work He has started in us. There’s a lot more renovating left to do in my old heart. <3
Oh, yes, that renovation continues in my old heart too! So thankful He keeps pursuing us!
Thank you for sharing your story, Wendy. And so happy God rescued you “from the deep”.
May you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a glorious Happy New Year.
