My faith is not shallow because I’ve been rescued from the deep. This is always the first thing I think of when I hear the word deep. Years ago, I had a battle with the mirror. I was losing.
• I lost too much weight.
• I lost my menstrual cycle.
• I lost my serenity.
Then someone admitted to me they were in a battle with eating disorders. That’s when I realized there was a name for what I was going through.
It was a relief to find out I wasn’t alone in my craziness. It was an answer to prayer to hear my friend’s confession. I went to see a specialist and was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa and bulimia.
God diagnosed me as someone who needed to ask my church to pray for me. He healed me by drawing me closer to Him through prayer, Bible reading, and journal writing.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
Real friends aren’t afraid to share the deep with you. Sometimes someone is helped—even saved—because a person dared to speak daring words. This is what motivates me to share about the deep places I’ve been through. Maybe someone else will be encouraged to seek help for their situation.
I’m nosy-to-know if you have a battle story someone needs to hear.

Wendy, what a testimony! Thank you for sharing your story! It has amazed me through the years how God has used my brokenness that resulted from my parents’ divorce to reach children I’ve taught who were experiencing the same pain. Thank you so much, Wendy, formsharing your story and testimony of how God rescued you. Wow, He is so good. Always. I had drug and alcohol abuse problems , as well as being suicidal. I read in a book that I can’t remember the title and author of – sorry! – to pray for Him to help me want to want to give up my addictions, if I couldn’t honestly say I wanted to give them up. Yep . . .He answered that prayer and rescued me too! :). Love and blessings and joys!
