I’ve shared a medley of short poems
I’ve collected from recent ones I’ve shared on Twitter and /or Facebook.
These are the ones that seemed to be most liked.
I’ve noticed the favorites with readers
are the ones I wrote out of a deep place of pondering
during my morning reading times.
I journal each morning.
In my journal I note a favorite Bible verse,
and I then write a poem in response to it.

I have linked this post with Sunday Stillness (author/artist Janis Cox)
I hope you will take a moment to enjoy her artwork and devotional.

This week I guest blogged,
on International Christian Fiction Writers,
about keeping a journal.
Here’s the link: ICFW
for those of you who haven’t read it yet.

Marisa, that’s exactly what I love about your writing, and I think it’s why I’m so drawn to memoirs—real stories are really interesting. It’s comforting to find out we’re not alone. ❀

It’s funny Wendy, I only seem to journal when I’m going through trying times. I think it’s my way of processing out loud. Love your photos, verses and poems. ❤

Diana, that’s one of the best times to write out your thoughts and feelings for the very reason you said. ❤ I can tell by my handwriting if I was feeling tense when I made a journal entry. ❀

So many of the spring flowers are so beautiful!
The first poem struck me especially. We tell God what to do, but only God knows the whole story and sees the whole picture. Kind of like telling God how to improve an apple blossom.

So true. My most common prayer is: “They will be done.” I’m such a lousy guesser at what’s best—so I leave that up to God. ❀

Wendy, your poems are beautiful. In my journal, I have a section for each person in my family … and when the girls would say something funny or brilliant, just something I knew I’d always want to remember, I’d jot it down. We laugh ourselves silly reading over it. I’ve been slacking off journaling lately … 🙂 I’ll regret it. 🙂 Memories forgotten.

Dear Shelli, I appreciate your reminder, as I have a journal for each of my children I started when I got pregnant—I keep forgetting to write in them. It’s fun to read old entries and pen prayers. ❀ But we can trust God to motivate us to do what must be done. There are so many flags waving for our attention in this life.

It’s evident that you do spend time with God. Your medley and your photographs show that so beautifully, Wendy. You have encouraged me too. And I do journal each morning, spending time with God. Sometimes I draw out the verse and I write notes of praise and ask for lots of help. 🙂

Wendy, I journal in the morning, too. Cuppa coffee, My Utmost for His Highest, and Jesus Calling. I choose a verse and away I go. Thanks for blessings, intercessory prayers, requests for myself, always asking to be closer, to know Him more deeply. Sometimes I get inspiration for my poetry during those times. Sometimes, I simply sit with Him and enjoy the being. Those times are special, as you well know. In the silence and beauty of the relationship.
