Here on Vancouver Island

we have been enjoying

 a taste of spring.

My husband and I

also experienced the biggest snowstorm we’ve had

since moving here over 25 yrs ago.

I have never witnessed

such variation of weather

in so short a time span.

Spring is winning as I type this post;

but graying battle scars of piled snow

now line our street edges.

Hope can carry us through life’s storms too.

Even midst undesirable weather

beauty abounds.

But the beauty of a God

who lavishes a willing soul with grace

calls forth the praise of all creation.

  1. So wonderfully beautiful and very inspiring Wendy! Your images are breathtaking in their loveliness. You have left a lasting smile on my face, thanks for making my day. P.S. remember that project? Here is a link to it; http://youtu.be/KY6kpbRLF1Q. Have a beautiful and blessed weekend my sister. Hugs and blessings to you and your family!

    1. Wendell, you have the perfect voice for reciting your lovely poetry. I shared it on my Google+ account. Nicely done!! I would love to try this some day with my daughter who is learning to write her own piano music. ☘

  2. Lovely verses and photos of the spring flowers. You must be glad for the warmer weather after a cold winter. Wish I could send some sunshine to you! It’s nice to experience the four seasons and enjoy God’s nature and beauty. Kind regards. Iris 🙂

  3. Wendy, my heart is longing for the days of spring too. Our weather though not as snowy is wet, damp and gray . So when I saw the first of my spring bulbs show their orange and yellow heads after the snow melted . . . I knew the Lord was giving me a peak at what was to come 🙂 ~ Blessings ~

    1. Deborah, each and every spring I’m reminded of “what’s to come” when the gates of eternal spring are opened. Thank you for the lovely comment. ❂

  4. I, too, am looking forward to spring – although that does mean yard work 🙂 For the eighth time in over 100 years, we’ve had more than 100″ of snow and it’s still piled up everywhere. Supposed to snow some tomorrow. Love your poetry and pictures.

    1. Thank you, Clarence. I hope your weather has settled down. My daughters snow-people finally melted this week. It was almost sad. We have pictures to keep anyways… ❂

  5. A beautiful journey of refeection Wendy. “I see love’s relection in creation” isvmy very faavourite, both words and photo. Thewater droplet with the reflections is amazing. So much talent. Xx

    1. Thank you, Danielle. I love your children’s music and have shared it on my Facebook and Google+ accounts. God is good even when life isn’t particularly good. This is what always amazes me about Him–that He can create something beautiful from our “winter storms”.

  6. You are so gifted, Wendy! Every time I view your awesome posts, I find myself wondering how anyone could believe this spectacular creation didn’t have a designer.
Congratulations on finishing the first half of your book.

    1. Bill, thank you so much for your encouragement. I agree that creation begs a Creator. When I was a new Christian I started to notice the details in nature more than ever. Over thirty years later I am just as awestruck by the intricacy and beauty of it all. God was not kidding, in Genesis, when He said it was good. ✼

  7. You so inspire my heart and Spirit … Your words and pictures bring such deep peace to my soul, dear one! God is using you! He has gifted you for His glory and our good 🙂

  8. Beautiful thoughts and photographs, Wendy. And I’m so glad you are halfway through with your novel. Way to go girl!!!! Keep writing and have a great week. Hugs, Natalie 🙂

  9. I re-blogged your “Patience in hardship” and linked back yo your whole post. The last days I have been looking at suffering/persecution and this I could not let pass for others to read. Thank for your inspiration!
    Peace

  10. What gorgeous pictures Wendy! I hate to say this because I am so done with winter, but the shots of those fowers in the winter snow are soooo pretty! hehe. I wish winter would go away, but she sure allowed you to capture her beauty. Love the snowdrop shots the best. Congrats on your book gaining pages.

    1. Thank you, Linda. It seems the longer winter lingers the more ardently our desire for spring grows. Winter has become the unwelcome guest in so many places. Bring on spring! ❀

  11. Thank you for sharing these beautiful images and words of hope, Wendy! So happy to hear that work on your book is going well–that’s exciting!
    Dreaming with you ~ Laura

  12. Love them all, but absolutely fell in love with #2 🙂
Blessings my dear….enjoy God in His splendor in nature 🙂
    JC

    1. Thank you, JC. When I look at creation and see how beautiful and complex it is I realize that not only is God’s love unfathomable but so are his abilities and creativity. ❀

  13. Greetings, Wendy! My son is on spring break this week, so my mornings are early but not rushed.

I didn’t know you had begun a novel, but I think that’s wonderful! It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but I’m not sure it will be in this season of life. I hope you truly enjoy the process. I know what you write blesses many people.

God is faithful and true; let us focus on His goodness come winter or spring!

    Blessings–Alison

    1. Alison, your words are wise that we need to “focus on His goodness” in whatever season we’re in. My oldest son and I visited a favorite park of his yesterday, and we were reminiscing about when he was a toddler and we first started going to it.Time has flown so quickly.

When my three kids were little I had barely time to write in a journal–never mind write a book. Enjoy them, dear friend. ❀

      1. I am enjoying them very much! We had a very relaxing spring break and slept past 7 every day–a rare treat! The kids are also growing in their ability to play well together, which fills V and me with joy!

  14. More beautiful haiga illustrating the end of winter and the arrival of spring so well. I’m delighted to note the novel writing is surging ahead too. Yes, we must seize the day and follow our dreams.

    1. Thank you, Mary. I am sticking to my writing routine even if my brain complains. Sometimes we just need to show up and then creativity will follow. Dreams lift us. ❀

  15. A perfect pairing of picture and word. Your word paintings are beautiful! Thank you for reminding us that change is necessary, and to be expected with gratitude…yes, spring is coming. An eternal spring where love will bloom and weapons will be beaten into plow shares, and we will be planted of the Lord. Congratulations on your first novel. I have yet to be that brave. May the words come swift, and sure as grace. Blessings to you! http://www.scribentus.wordpress.com

  16. The weather has been just as wild here on the other side of the continent. Friday we were experiencing a blizzard. Today was in the high 70s and there isn’t a trace of the snow left.

  17. Your photography is breathtaking and your words, beautiful. I look forward to exploring more. Thank you for liking several of my posts – your kindness it much appreciated. Be well.

  18. We’ve had a few days of 70F, now the wind is howling again, and temperatures are plummeting–hopefully for the last time this season. Congratulations on your novel’s progress.

  19. I think this post outdoes every other – it is simply beautiful, Wendy. So excited for you on your novel journey!! Keep going!! We have had the barest hint of spring on its way – a few days of temps above zero, and the very first bare patches of ground here and there. I will be planting some seeds this week in my ‘garden room’ and can hardly wait to see something green once again!!!

    1. Thank you, Melody. I’m so glad to hear that you are getting “hints of spring”. CBC radio was saying today that it’s even been a difficult winter for Canadian wildlife. We had some hail and rain today; however, the snow in our garden has melted. Happy planting. ❀

  20. Gorgeous photos, Wendy. The weather here is anchored in cold still and Spring hovers so close now. I hope Old Man Winter will exit soon. I’m ready for the greening. Hope the writing continues to go smoothly as silk for you!

    1. Thank you, Kim. Now that spring is arriving it will make picture taking more fun. I imagine you’ll enjoy it more too. I’m sending warm weather wishes your way. ❀

  21. You’re doing so well to write your novel and post your amazing photos and poems. I adore the line and photo ‘love reflected in nature’. Your weather has been more dramatic than ours, more challenging. ?.more beautiful. Lovexxx

    1. Thank you, Janet. This week has suddenly turned mild and some of the rose bushes are leafing out. I will be torn between words and plants for my attention. ❀

  22. Thank you so much for your recent ‘likes’ of a couple of my pages. It means a lot to me coming from a talent like yours. Your photo-poetry is truly inspiring. I find myself looking forward to each new post with great anticipation. God is shining brightly through you. Blessings on you and your divine work. Mary
