In our loneliness

never far away

whether in a crowd or not

it comes and goes

throughout our day

~

In our solitude

a time we set aside

whether one’s busy or not

it’s needed to nourish

our spirit inside

~

In His whispering

a gentle call to us

whether we heed or not

it’s God’s voice

in our emptiness

In our fellowship

 Divine communion with Him

washed in our unworthiness

 a true heart’s yearning

filled within.

  1. This is one of my favorite post, dear Wendy … It’s soaked with His desire to be in fellowship with His children … “Loneliness is our soul’s expression of this desire to be met.” … you have given words to the groaning of my heart 🙂

    1. Yes, I think loneliness can be a positive thing; anger can be too. Either can be a call to action, to attention, or to caution etc. Loneliness can draw us to converse with our Maker; perhaps just to acknowledge, rest, and delight in his Presence. 🙂 When we react to loneliness with drugs, over shopping, or over eating – then we’ve missed out on a blessing.

        1. True, and this is when we need to reach as far as we can and God will fill the gap. “Do our best and leave the rest.” I think we’re only called to do what we can and ask for strength to do more. We may need to stand on the shoulders of others who have been there – done that. Books and friends are potential mentors.

          Last night I missed my daughter as she was away for the night… so I turned off my computer and wrote a belated letter to a lifelong friend. Loneliness can birth blessings for us to give, or it may be a time to just be still and breathe. What’s your favorite thing to do when you are lonely?

          1. I am rarely alone but I sometimes feel lonely in the wee small hours when I can’t sleep (usually my two three year olds and my husband and perhaps a cat or two are sharing the bed but I can still feel alone). At those moments I tend to turn to my friends across the world and reach out online! I have made some wonderful friends via middle of the night chats across the oceans.

  9. I was struck today by, “my expectation is from Him”–when I’ve put my expectations on people, it can go horribly awry; but when I keep them focused on Him, and His provisions–fulfillment is guaranteed. God bless you and your family, Sis–love, sis Caddo

    1. I love your comment, Caddo! Relationships are healthier and more joyful when the burden of over dependence is avoided. I love my man and my kids – but it is my God who meets my inmost needs 🙂

      1. It’s a hard and painful lesson to learn, but once we do, the relationship struggles are less arduous. And just so you know, I by no means have it all nailed down…. To add to the trickiness, it’s easy to go too far the other way–never depending on others, we can miss the blessings God brings through people. Keeps us praying for His direction!

        1. Wise words, Caddo. Balance is the key. Fear tempts me to go it alone too often. “Perfect love casts out fear”. God is able to lead us to the still waters we need… which may include fellowship with someone over a cup of tea.

    1. Debbie, your kindness encourages me to continue carrying a camera in my back pocket and a pen in my palm. Yes, I get distracted continually when I am trying to garden; my dog thinks I’m beastly to ignore his pleas to pick him up when I am absorbed with photographing…(he takes his role as a lap dog and biscuit connoisseur very seriously). 🙂

  25. The colors are amazing in these photos, and you capture their vibrance and detail skillfully! I am always glad to see and read what you’ve shared!

    My soul is yearning to be alone with God. When my mind feels crowded and cluttered, I know it is that “whisper of love” that you wrote about that draws me to the source. He alone can satisfy!

    1. Alison, you are not alone with the need to get away from ‘crowded and cluttered’. Jesus himself would steal away from the crowds, to the hills, for quiet time with his Father.

      My teenagers don’t wakeup early so I steal away upstairs…

  30. Beautiful fall images! And it’s just what I believe too, that no matter how lonely we are, we are never really alone. He is always with us. Love the last picture best, with the wavy red grass. Just beautiful! And so inspiring.

  35. The light play is beautiful in all of your images. I too like green color. I used it in very many paintings. However, all colors deserve to be implemented, reflected and admired. I never use black because black means there is no light.
