In sixteen-hundred and thirty-four

tulips arrived on Holland’s shore

each bulb’s value grew like gold

vast amounts were then sold

some lost their fortune

in these trade days –

Netherland’s

tulip

craze!

A special thank you to my kind and talented husband, Ian, who resuscitated my computer when it got the blue screen of death this week.  I now have a clean install and it runs faster than ever!  He also repaired my van and did the startup on our sprinkler system for all of our gardens.  I appreciate his companionship, prayers, and his desire to help so much!

    1. Alison, I am having fun learning about the different forms of poetry. The weather has turned summer-like all of a sudden, so the tulips will shed their turbans now. Have a lovely weekend, dear friend!

  3. I *love* tulips, and your pictures of them!!! and thanks for the mention and link to my blog, Wendy! 🙂 Amsterdam’s in full spring now, and there are tulips everywhere!! I didn’t know that tulip meant turban in Turkish, but “elfje” means little fairy in Dutch. So… little fairy with turban 😉

    1. Calee, I like ‘little fairy with turban.’ 🙂 I definitely love tulips too! The first spring I waited for fall planted tulip bulbs to bloom I could not remember what colors I had – so it was a nice surprise. xo

    1. Patty, I have been inspired, so much, by everyone in blogsville. It was seeing others’ poems that lured me out of my poetry closet… and it is exciting to know that there is still a lot to learn.

  5. Oh Wendy! What a gorgeous and glorious bouquet of both flowers and verse! And thanks so much for the mention. Today my “invisible husband” bought me a dozen roses, and 3-stems of Stargazer Lilies–the color is “almost white pink” with darker rose edges on the roses, but the lilies haven’t opened yet. Every so often, “flowers” are on my grocery list! I love that God provides for luxuries as well as our needs–a touch of beauty is worth the occasional expense. May He bless your weekend abundantly (I wonder if you’re getting our wonderful predicted days of lovely weather–maybe 80 by midweek). Love, sis Caddo

    1. Yes, Caddo, we have summer-like weather today. It is so nice to be outside without a sweater or umbrella! 🙂 I’m so glad to hear that you have such lovely lilies on your table. I look forward to ours blooming. They really take a long time from the moment they peak out of the ground to when they bloom. Anticipation!

Hugs dear sis ~ Wendy xo
