~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the Early Morning Rain
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She was dressed in yellow and blue
a fair sky in spring
He kissed her fully on the lips
like he did everything
No half-hearted efforts
his hard-working heart of gold
he’d press on for his lady-love
until he was too old
A hand on their metal gate
he turned to wave goodbye
He’d carry her smile within his breast
before returning to her side
In the early morning rain
she went to find some flowers
Her frailness battered by the breeze
and soaked to skin with showers
When he found her in the garden
with a halo round her head
where silver hair had spilled about
he knew that she was dead

Such sweet peace had settled
upon her, now, pain-free brow
He knew she’d entered Heaven’s gate
where naught could hurt her now.

Heavenly Blessings ~ Wendy
~
While letting my little dog out,
early one morning,
I noticed the rain-drenched irises as I passed by the rock garden.
Later when the sun came out I headed straight to the flowers with my camera.
~ ❀ ~
Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep,
or to grieve like the rest of men,
who have no hope.
We believe that Jesus died and rose again
and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus
those who have fallen asleep in him…
Therefore encourage each other with these words.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-15 & 18 NIV

This poem is so full of love. And to think, the best is yet to come! The idea of the “not yet” has been coming up everywhere for me lately…may we keep an eternal perspective while inhabiting a temporal body and earth!

I agree with you, Alison, about keeping an eternal perspective. It helps me feel content with what I have been given and not to grasp greedily for more. It’s not about stuff…

What jumped out at me are your lines,
“Such sweet peace had settled

What is it that we could do to gain peace and a pain-free brow as we go through life?

Shakti, I can only speak for how I deal with my own osteoarthritis pain…which is that I focus on my enjoyment of the Creator ( through Jesus), his creation and in creating things myself such as gardening, photography and writing. Peace comes to me through these and it helps me not need medication. I, personally, don’t think it’s possible to be pain-free in our present bodies. But the pain drives me to my heavenly Father – and this is good.
