Cold Shoulder
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve been here before
Your cold shoulder
doesn’t make me shudder
My eyes perceive ice
but my hallowed heart
dwells within the Sun
where warmth embraces
regardless of elements
Still – I offer you
a seat near Me
in this Eden
if you will
Let go of freezing thoughts
and melt in this moment
of unconditional Love
Lingering long enough
til all residual frost
has fallen.
I often feel the most loved when creation reveals beauty that causes me to catch my breath. When do you feel closest to Divine Love?
For me it’s sunrises and sunsets. Nothing like the beautiful display of colors to begin or end my day to remind me that God is still ever so near. 🙂
A really nice poem. I don’t have an answer to your question. It is too deep for me to ponder at this time. Maybe later I can answer in a sincere way.
Wonderful poem and photos, as always, Wendy! In answer to your question, I find that He catches me with His love–off guard, at the oddest moments. Yesterday I was just in the kitchen, doing mundane, everyday things–and suddenly He was just flowing all around and over me. And I love to have Him hovering, as I write–Heaven on earth! God bless you Big–love, sis Caddo
Debbie, I love those moments when I’ve chosen to think upon lovely thoughts when tempted to ride the whiny bus, and then I notice His Presence right there with me!
Hi & hugs, Paulama. How are you and the Llamas doing? I’ve been a taxi-mama today. Tomorrow is an easier shift. 😉 I look forward to our little visits. If you lived a little closer I’d come and give you a hug in person! My daughter just brought me home a cute little garden angel ornament for my desk. I love little surprises too!
I can give hugs…but the peace I have is from putting my trust in Jesus – otherwise I’m a sorry mess! 😉 Paula, today I spotted more spring bulbs poking through the soil as I applied a ground cover of homemade leaf mold. Signs of spring remind me of hope… xo
Wendy, this poem, together with the last one (haiku) both reminded me of what God has been speaking to me about lately… that I need to “take every thought captive” and be careful what I dwell on. When I think about His “unconditional love” as you wrote, and all I have been blessed with, it definitely affects my mood, my outlook, my day. Thanks for, as always, sharing your heart. 🙂
Thank you, Daisy! When I gain ground in one area then I notice weeds in another. The “walk” is much like tending a garden! But I love the beauty that blooms when good thoughts are cultivated and negative ones are pulled out. It’s way worth the discipline…
‘I’ve been here before’ – true learning to go deep must be revisited. But that feeling of deja vu helps our hearts to press on even through the winters – we know by experience that spring will come again! I love those moments of sheer beauty, too – but I also feel close to God when my heart is humbled, or tried, or sore. Those, too, are learning places…
Repetition is commonly used in my life’s classroom, Melody. 😉 I agree there is added intimacy with God in our humility and pain. But “there’s no better road than the one that leads to Heaven.”
Laurie, I had a hard time when my dad died 15 yrs ago and I think I know just what you mean… Then when a teen niece died 5 yrs ago I chose to trust no matter what – but it still hurt a lot. Pain in grief is so intense and unavoidable. It’s a fire that just has to be left to burn out in its own time. I wish there was a shortcut! Hugs!
