Wings of the Dawn

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wings of the Dawn
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My spirit buoys

on wings of the dawn

Rising higher

as morning progresses

Dross of darkness

burned off in solar fire

Burdens dropped to depths below

I’m lifted up

renewed and reaching

heights of hope

Feather light with joy

and potential

You’ve given me

this sunrise

and another moment

in time to enjoy

I give You my day

forever

to guide

my soaring heart

to seek your Light

as I go about

Your way.

Wendy/2012

If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

 Psalm 139:9-10

Ian and I took off to the beach on a chilly morning with our hot coffee and cameras.  Within 8 minutes we were there just in time to capture some special morning moments with just the two of us, the birds, and our Creator…

PS – The first time that I remember reading Psalm 139:9 was when I was flying in a very small airplane that I had to board at dawn.  It was taking me to a small remote island on the northern coast of BC.  Ian had started a position as the hospital  business manager and computer systems person and had gone up 10 days prior, while I packed up our stuff and rented out our home.  It was the first time I had left my hometown of semi-arid  Kamloops.  It truly felt like I was heading to the outermost parts of the sea… When I pondered the words of these verses… peace and joy flooded into my soul.  And, yes, He was with us those two adventurous years that we spent there.

  1. What a stunning sunrise!! I love the words from your heart, too, Wendy. Your joy just radiates out. Bless you.

      1. It was like He washed over you, there with the sunrise! Thank you for capturing these special times and then sharing them with us! What a blessing! God bless you!

        1. Oh, Debbie, I love your comment! He does wash over us each morning that we take the time to come before him. “O come let us adore him – Christ the Lord.”

  2. Sunrise is one of my favorite times of day, and the kids and I often get to see those colors and clouds as we sit down to breakfast before L. goes to school.

    I am thankful that wherever we are, literally or figuratively, God is there to hold us!

    I hope you are having a good weekend!

    1. Thank you, Alison! Yes, our weekend is good as Ian and I had time for a leisurely coffee before he had to run off to do inventory at work… He’s off tomorrow! 🙂

      We can see some colors… but our trees block most of the sunrise. Those trees are too nice to remove!

  3. What a wonderful set of pictures and another great message on seeing the Lord through the lens of His creation. What a blessing it is to be surrounded by the beauty of nature and possessing an intimate relationship with the Lord. Thanks for another blessing Wendy,

    1. Thank you, Pastor Rob, for your encouragement! It is definitely my relationship with Jesus that opens my eyes widely to nature. Nature’s complexity and beauty inspire awe in me toward our Creator. The kids and I are working through an awesome biology video set that is produced from a biblical world view perspective. I just love it! It balances out the other views we are exposed to so much.

    1. Thanks, Melody! Grace is definitely delicious! 🙂 I just bought a book “Grace” by R.T. Kendall from the thrift store yesterday. I’ve heard him interviewed and liked his words. I hope to dive into it tomorrow afternoon…

  4. So you finally set out early enough to capture the sunrise…good for you! Beautiful pictures and words, Wendy. As I’ve been driving around town recently, I have marvelled at the variety of birds in our area and in the sky, and then suddenly I find myself like a child wondering what the sky would look like without birds and praising Him for his creation. There is so much to enjoy! The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. Cheers, Dee

    1. Thank you, Dee! Your comment reminds me of one of my favorite hymns, “This is My Father’s World”. It was the first hymn the kids and I learned together in our home school. Today I started to tear up at church, as we sang a hymn I remember singing at our old place while looking out a picture window into the forest. No I don’t want to go back… but I have fond memories I’ve brought with me… I will keep those! It is good to keep a childlike wonder in us always.
