Autumn Sky

Autumn Sky

Soon leaves

will be

all gone

to bed

But sky

I’ll look

to you

To paint the day

reds and blues

orange and violet

in muted

You offer yourself

as an easel

to hold

a canvas of colors

till evening

A lesson from you

I need surely

Just submit

to the Painter

as his brushes

have sway.

I was reading that autumn and winter skies create the best sunsets. ย So let’s enjoy the colors of the sky when all the leaves have fallen…

  1. We don’t have the pretty leaves, but we do have gorgeous sunsets (and sunrises)! Your pictures are making me want to go to the beach soon–with a camera and a heart full of praise to the Creator of all things! Beautiful pictures and poem. I love getting to sit and read for a few moments while A. is settling down for her nap.

    1. I remember the nap-time days… Sometimes I would go over the pictures I’d taken of them, that day, and then I’d realize I was still in mommy mode and needed to switch hats for a bit. Then I would read, write, or craft.

  2. Oh Wendy!! What fabulously gorgeous photos! Absolutely, those colors are incredibly beautiful–and inspire “tons” of poetry, just for me to look at–thank you!! God bless you abundantly–love, Caddo

    1. Thank you, Caddo! I have one left from that day that I will post soon. I was going to delete it and then, of course, I could see a poem in it. My husband is concerned that my laptop is going to get the “blue screen of death” from all the pictures stored on it… So tonight I deleted a bunch. Hopefully more than I added back on from today’s ventures. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I enjoy a word in season, so I'd love it if you added an apple to the bowl.
