Bible Verses & Poetry to Bless Your Heart

Bible Verses and Poetry to Bless the Heart by Wendy L. Macdonald

Take heart, dear soul, and remember
God the Father won’t forsake
Those who trust in Jesus Christ
Whose love always remains
Take heart, dear soul, and believe
God the Father won’t forget
Those who seek His only Son
Whose blood bought us true rest.
~ wlm

Blessings as you believe God will never forsake you.

Those who know your name will trust in you, for you,

LORD have never forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 8:10 NIV

Bible Verses and Poetry to Bless the Heart by Wendy L. Macdonald

Life may lose its luster
But God’s love shines brighter still
Especially when we trust in Him
With all our heart and will
Life may lose its allure
But God’s grace stays strong and true
Especially when we seek Him
In everything we do.
~ wlm

The gift of age is our reliance on the God who doesn’t change.

Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he,

I am he who will sustain you.

Isaiah 46:4 NIV

Bible Verses and Poetry to Bless the Heart by Wendy L. Macdonald

The Lord hears the heart
Weighed down with despair
For He came to encourage
His children everywhere
The Lord lifts His hand
When the afflicted cry
For He will not forget
The apple of His eye.
~ wlm

Blessings as you remember you’re the apple of God’s eye. He’s our good Father.

You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted;

you encourage them, and you listen to their cry…

Psalm 10:17 NIV

May God’s Word fill our hearts
And His mercy rule our speech
So our thoughts are full of love
That overflows with good deeds.

I penned this poem as a person who falls short but longs to stand tall in the Lord.

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,

he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done,

but because of his mercy.

Titus 3:4 NIV

  1. Nahum 1:7 “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble. And he knows those who trust in him.” One of my favorites. Beautiful poems.

  2. Thank you, Wendy! These are beautiful reminders of our Father’s love for us. Psalm 23 is the one that always rises above when the world pushes into me. Continued blessings to you as you bless us!

  3. Thanks Wendy for the insights and especially love the photo and verse of the birds flying across the lake. By the way what are they? Blessings on your week.

    1. Thank you, Pastor Pete. The birds are Canada geese. Last night my husband and I went to that spot again and watched them relaxing in the evening sun. Blessings to you & yours, too.

  4. Thank you Wendy for sharing your poems and Scriptures again. Every time I read them the Lord brings a fresh thought to me about His care. These brought tears to my eyes today: “The gift of age is our reliance on the God who doesn’t change.” He does carry us even to our old age and gray hairs. May I continue to let Him show me the gift that is there.

    1. Thank you, Bettie, for letting me know this touched you. Aging isn’t fun but it draws us closer to the Risen One. This is how I find comfort on the days it hurts to climb out of bed. <3 Hugs, dear friend. He's holding us close to His heart–always.

  5. “The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.” Psalm 145:8-9.
