Do Not Fear—But Pray

Do Not Fear—But Pray Wendy L. Macdonald

Do Not Fear—But Pray

Since You can remove

The mountains You made

You can woo hearts to trust

And turn from wicked ways

~

Therefore I need not fear

The darkness I see

For You’re able to spread light

And cause evil to flee

~

My moans of suffering

Are heard by You

Who longs more than I

For all to follow truth

~

I must bring my burdens

And lay them at Your feet

For You have planned peace

And freedom for all who seek.

God is stronger than what we fear.

Do not be afraid or discouraged because…

there is greater power with us than with him.

God is moved by our prayers.

And when he prayed to him,

the LORD was moved by his entreaty

and listened to his plea…

God is our hope.

…but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles…

God hears our prayers.

God heard them,

for their prayer reached heaven,

his holy dwelling place.

high above the trees

an eagle circles for prey

I lift my prayers

trusting they will be heard

when they reach God’s dwelling place

  1. Such wonderful & encouraging verses to know that our prayers reach heaven, that He hears them, that He is moved by them, that He delights in them! What peace & joy that brings!!

    1. Thank you, dear Becky, for letting me know His words encouraged you. My favorite part of the day is my morning reading time, when I find these “peace & joy” verses. <3

    1. Thank you, dear Shelli. <3 I'm glad I kept this blog running along with my new one. Google favors older blogs that have regular content and lots of shares etc. The Still Small Voice was right.

  2. Yes, dear Wendy, this post encouraged me. I followed your photos and poetry with eagerness. The line how He more than I wants all to follow truth was convicting. So thank you, dear sister in faith. I celebrate this moment of your recognition!

    1. Thank you, dear Julie. I’m glad He cares even more than we do–it’s a relief to know He shoulders the burden of everyone’s salvation. We need only trust, obey, and pray. God’s got us, God’s got them. <3

  3. This blog on fear really speaks to my heart. My favourite verse right now is also on dealing with fear:
2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” We also know with assurance that we can “rest in God alone.” Psalm 62 See verses 5-8.

    1. Thank you so much, dear Sharon, for reminding me of Psalm 62:5-8. It’s a powerful passage that always comforts my heart when I read it. I say 2 Timothy 1:7 to myself a lot. It’s one of my top three verses. xo
