Messy Interruptions May be Opportunities to Serve

The hustle and bustle time of year is here as we all strive to accomplish as much as we can before Christmas Eve arrives. I’d like to suggest we’d be wise to keep watch for opportunities to bless that are often disguised as messy interruptions. Our to-do-list isn’t always tuned into God’s plans; so let’s abide in Christ so His purposes are fulfilled in and through us.

This week on HopeStreamRadio.com , I’m speaking about messy interruptions (Here’s the link: Perfect Beauty). You’ll also find links to all my podcasts here: Walking with Hope.

Heed His Whispers

Help us heed the whispers

Along December’s way

As we head into a season

That takes our breath away

May we notice the needy

With a gift, a smile, or hug

And perhaps it’s us who needs it

More than the other does

Help us hear the carols

Playing each Advent day

As their words sing of Jesus

Our hope, our help, our Way.

The Spirit of the LORD is on me,

because he has anointed me

to preach good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the

brokenhearted,

to proclaim freedom for the captives

and release from darkness for the

prisoners,

and provide for those who grieve in

Zion—

to bestow on them a crown of beauty

instead of ashes,

 Isaiah 63:1 & 3 NIV

Have you recently experienced some amazing moments brought to you by a messy interruption? I’m nosy-to-know.

Again, here’s this week’s podcast link: Perfect Beauty.  I wrote the transcript for this podcast a few weeks before starting to read Ann Voskamp’s book: The Broken Way. I was thrilled to discover her book also reminds us to befriend interruptions as opportunities to serve. Please, dear friends, be open to the wounded. You may find yourself in need of the same grace you have graciously given (or not given). I need this reminder too. All. The. Time.

  1. What a great reminder going into the Christmas season! I hope to receive interruptions as opportunities. Too many times I see them in hindsight as missed opportunities! Maybe with your encouragement I’ll be ready to catch them in time:) Thank you! Patty

  2. This really blessed me. Ever since my work schedule changed from two days a week to five days a week it has been hard for me to have devotions. I have missed the sweet fellowship with my blogging friends, as well. Today I have so much that needs to be done like housework, grocery shopping, and going to the laundromat. But instead I just slept in really late, and decided to focus on spiritual food. Thank you so much for sharing this.

    1. Dear Theresa, good on you for sleeping in. Housework can wait—but our health won’t. I slept in a wee bit today too; there’s no way I can stay up late and get away with it. 🙂 Sometimes I can’t put a book down. Thank you for the visit here; I’m behind in reading blogs and hope to savor a bunch soon. <3

    1. Thank you, T.R. It’s nice to meet you. Yes, I love how God pursues us passionately and yet still allows us the freedom to reject Him. We’re blessed to believe and receive His grace. <3
