With gracious compassion
the Lord reached down to me
and robed in the richest Love
He pulled me from the sea

Wildflowers remind me of our Heavenly Father. They were designed by him, and I believe He knew how much we’d enjoy them.
~
~
God was also there when we were formed inside our mother’s womb, so He would know all about the abundance of love or lack of it we may have experienced in childhood. He was there.
~
~
Some children grew up into adults who find it hard to imagine a God who is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.
~
~
Maybe they had a difficult childhood where adults in their life were too emotionally sick or mentally ill to express consistent godly love. Maybe those people were too broken to nurture wholeness in their offspring.
~
~
And then along came God, through people who had already tasted of his Divine Love, and bestowed blessings on the battered hearts of those in need of true abundance.
~
~
And maybe when they read Psalm 145:8, their hearts overflowed with joy, and their eyes welled up with tears of gratefulness because they knew all along, deep down inside, something was missing. And they found out God was there too.
~
~
Whatever our past may have been like, we need to believe God can use all of it for good—even the parts of it that were less than good.
But God.
I’ve heard some powerful testimonies over the years of bruised souls being rescued by the Father of Light. These same people have gone back and shone this Light over those who’d hurt them.
It may have to be done from a safe distance, or not.
But prayers of blessing can travel far.
…gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.

These wildflowers are from a hike Ian and I took up to Paradise Meadows this summer. It was one of those ‘perfect’ days in between the not-so-perfect days of regular living. It was a taste of heaven, the Heaven our gracious and compassionate Lord has gone to prepare for those who love Him.

Rich in Love Blessings ~ Wendy
Do you have a special verse, quote, or song that speaks to you of rich love?
I’d love to hear it.

The Lord is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.

Your post today reminds me of this song ‘Beautiful Things’ by Gungor.
Thank you, Gene. This is perfectly beautiful. I love it.

Beautiful -Amen Many ,many blessings
Thank you, blessings.
Psalm 143:8 “Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for I put my trust in you.”
Wendy, those wildflowers remind me of the uniqueness with which God made each of us – each one a masterpiece. Thank you as always for the beautiful way you show us the light and love of our Creator.
Thank you, Susan. Psalm 143:8 is a good reminder for us to start each day wrapped up in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Blessings.
Superb post with stunning photos and Divine inspiration in your prose. Heaven is truly on earth! Thank you Wendy for lifting us today. Many Blessings to you.
Thank you, dear Rhonda. We were up there again yesterday and feeling grateful this part of our island has remained pristine and untouched by forest fires. Blessings.
How wonderful. It looks like such a beautiful and inspirational area.
It’s horrible over here. The state of Washington is having apocalyptic type fires! I’m sure you heard on the news 4 firefighters were killed yesterday and four others injured. We are now in the midst of another wind storm event that will last two days ending with possible lightening tomorrow. I pray for the Lord’s mercy and a Blessing of miracles.
Rhonda, I’m so sorry to hear about those dear firefighters. True heroes. May God grant their families comfort and peace. Our province and other parts of Canada are experiencing worse than normal fires too. Yes, we need to pray for miracles. Scary times. Hugs.
Yes I’ve heard about the fires in Canada as well. I pray for all involved in these devastating fires. So sad.
Hugs and Blessings to you dear Wendy.
This made me cry. I’m such a sap. Thank you for your beautiful posts.
Laura, tears are the highest compliment. Thank you. xo The song Gene suggested made me cry—the good cleansing kind of cry.
You’re welcome. :)) I agree with you…definitely good cleansing tears.
What a great hope we have in Him! Eternity with the one who loves perfectly. Until then, like you said, “we get a taste of heaven” here. Someday we will know Him as we are fully known. How special and exciting! Thank you for sharing and helping us to “fix our eyes on Jesus.” A song that has been meaningful for me is by Selah – He Was There.
Thank you, dear Dee. I’m curious about the Selah song you mentioned. I wasn’t able to find it, but I did find this one:

Sorry Wendy. It’s not Selah, but Avalon – He Was There
Thank you, Dee. I love the Scriptures at the end of it too. How can we ever doubt He cares when He’s engraved us on His hands?
lovely post.
Micah 3:10 “Put me to the test and see if I will not open the windows of Heaven and pour out so much blessing…”
Thank you for the verse. I love those moments when a window of Heaven opens up and pours out an unexpected blessing. God is good.
Exciting photos and nice words.
Thank you, dear Marylou. There’s something special about wildflowers.
Wildflowers are some of my favourite flowers. I tell Paul not to mow down the buttercups because they give me so much joy. 🙂
Jennifer, you’d love the back area of my garden then. The ‘lawn’ is overrun with them. I don’t use chemicals, so whatever will be will be at our place. 🙂
Good for you! 😍
To quote Gene’s song: you make beautiful things out of dust. Take it any way you want – all ways will be good!
Diane, I thought of that song as I watered and pruned my garden last evening. I enjoy thinking of the Master Artist taking pleasure in His work.
I think you just summed up the story of my life. And I love this, “It was one of those ‘perfect’ days in between the not-so-perfect days of regular living.” Yeah. 🙂 <3
Shelli, isn’t it gracious of our Creator to give us those heavenly moments to keep us going? I’m slowly learning to trust His rest will come right when we need it the most. He is faithful. Hugs.
The photos, the poem, the message….what a beautiful post so full of comfort and inspiration!
There is a song that comes to mind. I hope you will like it as much as I do.
“The Love of God” by Frederick Lehman
The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.
Refrain
O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song.
When years of time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men, who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.
Refrain
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.
Refrain
Here is a performance of that song:
Thank you, dear Theresa. I love this song and have sung it before. My favorite part is the following:
” Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.”
God is love. Blessings friend. xo
I had a feeling that your favorite verse would be that one. It’s my favorite, too. 🙂
Wordsmiths think alike. 😉
What gorgeous flowers, Wendy! I’ve never seen most of them before. Thank you so much for taking the time to take these photos and share them.
Here’s a verse I really like:
“He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17
Thank you, Constance. Some of these flowers I’ve only ever seen at Paradise Meadows. It’s an alpine park where even the trees grow differently than the ones down at sea level. How gracious our God is to sing over us. Wow, He is the perfect Father of Love.
Oh my, Wendy, this is simply fabulous, both the photos and the text. God does try to reach us through Creation! He certainly speaks to you and me through it. I pray that your post reaches out and touches those who have not yet found Him. Hugs, N 🙂 <3
Thank you, dear Natalie. Yes, I agree He tries “to reach us through Creation”. Since putting my trust in Christ, I find creation more fascinating than ever as I imagine the joy God experienced as He put it all together. <3
Perfectly lovely for this beautiful Sunday. Thank you, Wendy <3
Thank you, Angie. Blessings as you rest in Him.
Another beautiful, profound and touching post, Wendy. The photography is awesome!
Thank you, Bill. I was happy the sun was out since it makes all the difference when taking macro shots. 🙂
That is so beautiful: pictures and words.
Thank you, Inese. On one of our visits there I took a picture of a man painting a picture of one of the meadows (I asked his permission first). 🙂
Wow, Wendy so many messages for you here I read a few and had to scroll far to find the finish. Life is beautiful seen through your eyes. Happy day to you and many blessings.
Thank you, Kath. Life is beautiful through your art, dear friend.
Divine images and messages~
Thank you, Cindy. Blessings on your weekend, friend.
Such wonderful words of encouragement you write, Wendy. And your photographs tie in beautifully with the scriptures too. 🙂
Thank you, dear Tracy. Wildflowers remind me of God’s grace—free, delightful, and in unexpected places.
