Joy can blossom
in any season
with thanksgiving and praise
when we lift our hearts in love
to the Ancient of Days

Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves is heard
in our land.

Recently, an owl called out to my husband and me.
We were on a favorite neighborhood walk,
after having finally recovered from a flu.
It was a simple-pleasure-turned-treasure
to be outside after being housebound for a week.
The owl seemed to be celebrating along with us.

I’m sharing this flower-power bouquet of fresh picks
from a local demonstration garden.
I take so many pictures that I’m able to save some for a rainy day.
And believe me, we’ve had some very rainy days in our valley.
~
~
The same week Ian and I were sick,
our valley experienced some flooding.
He couldn’t go to work because the area was under water.
Our home was safe and dry.
~
~
By the time my husband was well,
the flood had receded, and all was back to normal.
I’m thankful for the timing, so that he only missed one week of work.
He’s thankful too.
There’s always something we can be thankful for.
~
~
So no matter how gray and rainy it gets here on the coast,
I’ll remember that spring is just around the corner.
Thanksgiving is always in season.

Very beautiful and uplifting Wendy! Thank you.
Thank you, dear Leona. I enjoy reading your haiku on Facebook. ❀
Lovely post, i love your flower pics. I saw a bee flying the other day and thought ” well spring must be around the corner!” 🎶
Thank you. It’s been warmish here; but I know that could change in a hurry. I’ll be ready with my camera if snow should arrive. ❀
Great pictures and message, Wendy. So glad to hear that you and your husband have recovered and the flooding is over.
Thank you, dear Bill. At one point they closed both the bridges in town. I’m so glad the Bridge of Christ is always open. ❀
Glad to hear Spring might be knocking on your door. Wisconsin is especially cold right now after a warm Christmas. Please send the warmer weather our way. Beautiful pictures.
Thank you, Karen. I’ll trade you a few degrees of mildness for a spot of snow. Just send enough to dust our trees with white frosting. ❀
A really beautiful bouquet Wendy! Thank you for this uplifting post. We all need some cheer on these grey January days! 🌻 x
Thank you, dear Christine, for your uplifting visit. ❀
Nothing cures the winter blues or ennui like a touch of summer color…Gorgeous photos.
Thank you, Charlie, for your visit and for teaching me a new word. ❀
Great images! You have brightened my day!
Greg 🙂
Thank you, Greg. Your flower pictures are always so cheerful and bright. ❀ It’s nice to return the favor.
🙂
Wendy your flowers are so beautiful, especially the bee shots. That must have been amazing to hear the owl call, we never see them much they are so good at hiding, a glimpse here or there. Happy that you had a chance to slow down all thanks to a flood. I do believe everything happens for a reason. Blessings to you.
Thank you, dear Kath. I continue to enjoy your drawings of wildlife and farm animals. We’ve had an owl in our old cherry tree, and I took pictures. But they didn’t turn out very clear. One morning we found a rabbit’s foot dangling in another tree. Not lucky for that little bunny. ❀
Great flower photos and poems.
Thank you, dear Marylou. ❀
Stunning set of florals.
Thank you. Nice to meet you. ❀
Likewise, nice to meet you.
Splendid as always, dear Wendy! Hugs, N <3
Thank you, sweet Natalie. xo I’m looking forward to spring. ❀
Wendy, this is so beautiful. It just lifts my heart and reminds me of how precious we are to the Lord. His timing is perfect. I’m so glad to hear that you are both over your sickness:) Good health to you both and God’s blessings!! P.S. I, too, would love to get a dusting of snow!
Thank you, dear Susan. I agree that God’s timing is perfect. Not that I’m always patient about it. But He’s perfect nonetheless. Our thankfulness shines His Light and joy into our circumstances. As I type this, the sun is breaking through the thick fog outside. Blessings for a beautiful 2015. ❀
Glad you are well again and finding ways to keep your spirit cheerful and thankful.
Friends, books and beauty can brighten any winter day. Thank you, and blessings for 2015. ❀
I’m so thankful your house didn’t flood. And that you’ve recovered from the flu. Beautiful pictures, beautiful words. <3
Thank you, dear Shelli. I kept checking the basement, and it was such a relief to find it dry. ❀ Hugs. Thinking of you as you prepare for your speaking engagement.
Thank you, Wendy … this coming Wednesday morning! Getting ready!!
Blessings of peace and joy for you and the other ladies. ❀
Glad that you are well again and you didn’t have any flood damage. Gorgeous pictures in the middle of winter! I so appreciated them.
Thank you, dear Linda. I adore those bird pictures you posted on Facebook. My next post will feature birds, but I’m not able to catch them quite as clearly as you do. Birds always brighten my day. ❀
Thank you so much, Wendy, for blessing us! Sorry to hear you’ve been sick, but so thankful you are better! And that your home wasn’t damaged by the flood!
I’m definitely feeling thankful for a dry basement and beautiful friends like you, Debbie. ❀

Thanksgiving is always in season. I love that, Wendy. <3
Thank you, dear Jennifer. I’ve got both the Bible and Oprah Winfrey backing me up on that one. 😉 Blessings on your weekend. ❀
I love when my blogger friends find one another. Diana is a wonderful blogger friend.
I forgot to say how stunning your flower photos are!
Jennifer, thank you for introducing us via your blog. You keep good company, and I’m honored to have been invited. Maybe one day we’ll all drive across Canada and visit your island. Have a warm and cozy weekend. Our island’s been shaking a wee bit with mini-quakes. l may just drive out that way sooner than later. ❀
Wow, wouldn’t that be quite the experience! Just let me know when, and I’ll roll out the welcome mat. Oh wait, I already have one out there. lol
Seriously, I would love it. I hope those mini-quakes cease and desist, though.
Stunning!
Thank you, Julie. Nice to meet you. ❀
Hi Wendy. I come from talktodiana and I’m glad I did. Your photography is amazing and your life spirit shows so wonderfully. I will be your neighbor in a couple of years! Building a home in Union Bay soon!
Thank you, Ian, for stopping by. My husband and I love Union Bay. The character homes and oceanfront give it a priceless ambiance. We also love our home in the Comox Valley since it’s handy for our teens to do their activities. What province are you living in now? Blessings as you soon build your new home. ❀
I really enjoyed this post. I love flowers. I am glad you and your both are feeling better.
Thank you, dear Theresa. It really is true that flowers say it best. And chocolate. ❀

Thank you so much Wendy. 🙂 hehe that little shoe! i just dusted it today 🙂
Wendy, I’m thankful that you and your husband are both better. Flooding is a scary thing, and I am also thankful that your house was safe from it.
Thank you, dear Cynthia. When home remains a haven, all is well. I thoroughly enjoyed your book, A Good Home, and was sad to finish it. That’s the best compliment a book can get. ❀ Blessings as you continue to write.
So kind of you to read it, Wendy, and I am VERY glad that you liked it.
Yes, feeling sad when a book ends is a great compliment.
Thanks for the blessings, and I will continue.
A sequel is in the works.
I’ll be reading it. ❀
Just exactly what I needed on this cold February morning 🙂
Linda, it’s pouring rain here, and I’m hoping snowdrop flowers can swim. ❀
