I Can Trust

If He can shine
the sun on me
and still the waves
of the sea
then I can trust
and rest in peace.

Wendy ❀ 2014

~
Motherhood is the most important part of my life
after my relationship with God and my husband.
~
~
This year I’ve pulled back more and more
as my teens have gotten older.
I know they’ve got what it takes.
~
~
I did a Happy Mama Dance this week
when one of our sons got accepted into
a program that only takes a couple of students per year.
He wants to work with cars (normal teen guy).
~
~
I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve prayed
for God’s will to be done in each of our children’s lives.
And my husband’s.
And mine.
~
But I know that I can trust and rest in peace.
~
~
For the NaNoWriMo novel I’m working on,
one of my favorite verses came up
when a character picked up his neglected bible.
~
Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4
~
That was the theme verse for our wedding over 31 years ago.
~
~
One of the desires of my heart has been to write a book and get it published.
~
While I was quietly working on this post,
my husband looked over from his desk
and told me he was glad I’m writing,
and then he read me this quote:
~
Of all sad words of mouth or pen,
the saddest are these:
It might have been.
~
by John Greenleaf Whittier

What are you thankful for this week?
I hope you had a reason to do a happy dance.

Beautiful post Wendy ~
Thank you, Mary. Your art is truly beautiful. ❀
Your words and sharing are so lovely to read! So wonderful, Wendy 🙂 Love and prayers, Iris <3
Thank you, dear Iris. xo I treasure your prayers and kindness. ❀
Good luck with NaMoWriMo, Wendy!
Thank you so much, Cheryl. It’s getting tougher; but I’m getting closer. ❀
Wendy thats great when your child gets an opportunity to thrive. I love the quote your husband read out to you. So true, something burns in me to write. Maybe it will not be good enough for the world to read but it might inspire my kids to dream big. Beautiful frosty pics too.
I have always liked that quote from your husband too, Wendy. Kath, we three have much in common when it comes to the burning desire to write. 🙂
I agree, Jennifer. Let’s continue to burn through 13,000 more words. ❀
Thank you, Kath. I can relate to what you’re saying about a mother’s courage inspiring her children. If I fail to write well, and yet encourage my children to reach for their goals–I’ve succeeded where it matters the most. ❀
Me too !
What a marvelous verse for your wedding theme. Love everything about this post. God bless you.
Thank you. There’s a long story behind why it was chosen. But I’ll save that for another day. Blessings ❀
Evocative picture. Nice words.
Thank you, dear Ian. ❀
Awesome post and photos as usual! I wish you the best of luck with your novel. I know that if that’s God plan for your life they will sell like pancakes. Hugs and love, N <3
Thank you, dear Natalie. xo I don’t want to fill up the reader too much like pancakes, since I have a zillion plot plans flipping around in my head. I crave to bake a whole stack of mysteries served with Canadian maple syrup. 😉
Wendy:
I have always admired your solid faith. You set an example for us all to live up to, to strive for. And a big thank you to Ian for sharing the Whittier quote. I also admire your tenacity and dedication to your novel. May God continue to shower blessings upon your dreams. ~ Richard
Thank you, dear Richard. Ian can testify I have a one-track mind once I get going on something. Thankfully he’s on board the same train with me. The only thing to admire about my faith is the One in whom I trust. He’s the Conductor that keeps my crazy train from derailing. Blessings to you both.❀
Cheering with you for your son! I am picturing Snoopy, doing the happy dance! God bless you and yours and your writing!
Thank you, dear Debbie. I’ve always loved Snoopy and Woodstock. Soon it will be time to dig them out of Christmas decoration box and put them on the tree.❀
Wonderful images, Wendy. You have a real photographic gift, and your words are beautifully poetic and deeply insightful. Your posts are always such a joy to read and look at.
Thank you, Don. Each time I see your lovely artwork I get the itch to dig out my sketch books. But alas, I find myself drawing away in my journal instead. ❀
God bless you Wendy, I really enjoyed your beautiful post
Thank you, Majka. Blessings to you also. ❀
those frosted leaves look like works of art Wendy. Just beautiful! Best wishes on your book.
Thank you, dear Linda. My daughter and I always get excited about the first frost. ❀
Wouww realy great photos.
Thank you, dear Marylou. ❀
This post really means a lot to me. “It might have been”. I don’t want to look back at my life and say that. I want to try and always learn and grow and move forward. You write that book Wendy…it will be beautiful.
Thank you, dear Laura. Our job is to do our best. It may not be good enough–so we try again–and again until all the doors close. I’m enjoying the learning and growing process. You take good pictures (read that as good to the power of ten). ❀
I agree about trying and trying. And thank you for such a nice thing you said about my photos. 🙂
Beautiful! And those frosted leaves are gorgeous!
Thank you, dear Elizabeth. Today it’s mild and sunny. ❀
You are such an encourager, Wendy! Your posts bring me peace. (Congratulations to your son).
Thank you so much, Bill. I’m blessed by your “Unshakable Hope”. ❀ I always look forward to your posts. My family knows you by name, because I share what I’ve learned on your blog. We’re all C.S.Lewis fans too–even the atheist ;).
Hi Wendy, We have just returned from a week in the Nevada desert…and it delights my heart to find your post as still and profound as the peace we found there. Congratulations to your son! Ours is also on the auto track, now completing a probationary six months as an apprentice at a custom race shop. God is so good! Love and many blessings, –Vivian
Thank you, dear Vivian. I agree that God is good. How exciting that your son will work on race cars. It seems like only yesterday that our son had a Lego creation of his posted in their magazine. They grow up so fast. And now they work on real cars. Blessings ❀
Beautiful words and beautiful photos!!
Thank you, Terri. I just peeked at your fabulous autumn pictures of maple trees. Lovely. ❀
Another lovely post. I’m pleased the writing is moving along so well. Putting pen to paper, or fingers to the keyboard, is such a joy.
Thank you, dear Mary. I slogged through a couple of tough days and am now on the homestretch with renewed vigor. I think the hike I went on yesterday was exactly what my muse needed. ❀ To have written is always a joy.
I am thankful that I came here today and read this! 🙂 I’m thankful because of God’s supernatural protection on my family, His provision is numerous I can’t count them all. God has been faithful. I’m very happy for you and your lovely family, I’m certain your son is happy too, what a wonderful post. I can’t wait to read your book when it’s ready!
Love and blessings to you Wendy. 🙂
Thank you, dear Seyi. I’ve always admired your passion for writing. Lately I’ve been drawn to suspense books so I just downloaded your novel, Tale of Five Lies. Bedtime is for books. ❀ I can’t wait to cozy up with my Kindle. 🙂
That’s great! I hope you’ll love reading it. Let me know your thoughts on it! 🙂
Beautiful words and photos as always Wendy. Your posts are like meditations; I may have said this before 😊. I am now enjoying the joysof grandmahood! And believe me the love is no different from that I have for my own three children. All the vulnerability they feel, all the joy, all the scrapes and cuts, I feel them too. Next week I will have the privilege of attending a nativity play where four year old Theo will be an angel! 😊 x
Thank you, dear Christine. xo Theo is blessed to have a grandmother who loves and cherishes him. You’re an angel too. I hope this means you’ll be writing a poem in response to the nativity play. I’ll be sure to bring tissue when I read it, as your writing always touches my heart. ❀
I bope a poem emerges from the nativity too. These poems seem to have a life of their own, they please themselves and either appear or dont appear! 😊
So much to praise the Lord for, especially our children. (3 John 1:4) ” I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
Also thankful that our son and daughter-in-law came home from SC LAST night, since it’s been snowing all day! Happy, Blessed Thanksgiving!
Hi Wanda. Amen to 3 John 1:4. Thanksgiving blessings to you and your family. ❀ Enjoy and treasure every moment.
I will think of your beautiful frosty maple leaves tomorrow on Thanksgiving Day. You are such a blessing, Wendy!
~Peace, Zoey
❀ Thanksgiving Blessings to you and your family, dear Zoey. xo
