If He can shine

the sun on me

and still the waves

of the sea

then I can trust 

and rest in peace.

Motherhood is the most important part of my life

after my relationship with God and my husband.

This year I’ve pulled back more and more

as my teens have gotten older.

 I know they’ve got what it takes.

I did a Happy Mama Dance this week

when one of our sons got accepted into

a program that only takes a couple of students per year.  

He wants to work with cars (normal teen guy).

~

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve prayed 

for God’s will to be done in each of our children’s lives.

And my husband’s.

And mine. 

~

But I know that I can trust and rest in peace.

~

For the NaNoWriMo novel I’m working on,

one of my favorite verses came up

when a character picked up his neglected bible.

~

Delight yourself in the LORD

and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4

~

That was the theme verse for our wedding over 31 years ago.

~

One of the desires of my heart has been to write a book and get it published.

~

While I was quietly working on this post,

my husband looked over from his desk 

and told me he was glad I’m writing,

and then he read me this quote:

~

  4. Wendy thats great when your child gets an opportunity to thrive. I love the quote your husband read out to you. So true, something burns in me to write. Maybe it will not be good enough for the world to read but it might inspire my kids to dream big. Beautiful frosty pics too.

    2. Thank you, Kath. I can relate to what you’re saying about a mother’s courage inspiring her children. If I fail to write well, and yet encourage my children to reach for their goals–I’ve succeeded where it matters the most. ❀

    1. Thank you, dear Richard. Ian can testify I have a one-track mind once I get going on something. Thankfully he’s on board the same train with me. The only thing to admire about my faith is the One in whom I trust. He’s the Conductor that keeps my crazy train from derailing. Blessings to you both.❀

  14. This post really means a lot to me. “It might have been”. I don’t want to look back at my life and say that. I want to try and always learn and grow and move forward. You write that book Wendy…it will be beautiful.

    1. Thank you, dear Laura. Our job is to do our best. It may not be good enough–so we try again–and again until all the doors close. I’m enjoying the learning and growing process. You take good pictures (read that as good to the power of ten). ❀

  17. Hi Wendy, We have just returned from a week in the Nevada desert…and it delights my heart to find your post as still and profound as the peace we found there. Congratulations to your son!     1. Thank you, dear Vivian. I agree that God is good. How exciting that your son will work on race cars. It seems like only yesterday that our son had a Lego creation of his posted in their magazine. They grow up so fast. And now they work on real cars. Blessings ❀

  21. Beautiful words and photos as always Wendy. Your posts are like meditations; I may have said this before 😊. I am now enjoying the joysof grandmahood! And believe me the love is no different from that I have for my own three children. All the vulnerability they feel, all the joy, all the scrapes and cuts, I feel them too. Next week I will have the privilege of attending a nativity play where four year old Theo will be an angel! 😊 x

  22. So much to praise the Lord for, especially our children. (3 John 1:4) ” I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
    Also thankful that our son and daughter-in-law came home from SC LAST night, since it’s been snowing all day! Happy, Blessed Thanksgiving!
