OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

~

On Twitter I enjoy sharing micro-poems with other tweeters

and reading their poetry.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It is a busy online community that  includes many poets who love to share and read each others’ work.

I’ve noticed that since I’ve been spending regular time each morning

working on my first novel draft,

I don’t have the time and energy for writing longer poems (for now).

It is a season;

but I am enjoying writing the shorter ones

when a picture inspires me.

Today I am sharing some of the ones I’ve also shared elsewhere.

My novel draft is now over 30,000 words long and I am still aiming for about 85,000.

It’s going to be scary letting someone actually read it…

but in the meantime I’m enjoying the journey.

What journey are you taking or thinking of taking for the first time?

What made you decide to take the plunge?

  1. These are all lovely, and suit the images perfectly. Congratulations on your progress on your novel. Mine newest has now reached about 85,000 words, and I’m wrapping it up. Pretty sure it will come in below 95,000, which is good for me. (My last one was 121,000!!) But it takes what it takes, and not a word more or less. So write what you want to say in the way that works best for you. And most of all, enjoy the telling of your tale. Good luck!

    1. Thanks so much for your comment, Marcia. Since this is my first go at a novel I’m not sure what side of the word count I’ll lean towards. I suspect 85,000 will be plenty enough for me. I am already delegating some ideas for a sequel since I’m getting attached to the characters. ❀

  2. Wendy, these pictures are absolutely stunning… your simple words bring us powerful truths! You are much appreciated, sister! My husband and I are also going through a journey of first-time … big-time stepping out in faith … Each step belongs to our God … He will finish what He started! Keep going, dear one, on your novel. I know He will honor your desire to glorify Him 🙂

    1. Heidi, blessings on the journey you both are embarking on. How wonderful that you both can do this together in Christ. You’ve had years of faith/character building through marriage and parenting that will have brought you to this place. Keep trusting, dear friend. ❀

  3. Congratulations on starting your novel! May you continue to be filled with the Spirit as you write what the Lord has placed on your heart! “Then the Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it’ ” (Habakkuk 2:2).

    1. Thank you, Danielle, for your encouraging comment. I remember when I started this blog I thought it was going to be mainly about creation through photography; however, “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” My novel is a mystery seasoned with spiritual salt. ❀

  4. I love these! I didn’t know about the micropoetry on Twitter. What a sweet community spot for you. 😀

What am I trying for the firs time? Maybe I’m trying to join a local writing group in order to grow my writing skill set. Hopefully, I can be more effective, even more useful as a tool in the hands of a loving God…

It was an invitation that nudged me.

          1. I would love to write a mystery novel – HUGE fan of Agatha Christie! Chocolate or no, it’s a big undertaking, and I commend you for it!

          2. It’s definitely intimidating; however, I get caught up in the character’s lives and have actually started crying or laughing. They say that if the writer doesn’t bleed – then the reader won’t either…

  5. As always beautiful photos. And micro-poetry has its own beauty, power and delight. I am jealous though. We have had a very hard winter in Ontario and, unusual for our area, still have deep snow on our snowdrops. As before I want to pray a word of perseverance and encouragement, not just for your novel, but the micro-poetry, and the family!
    Peace

    1. I really appreciate your prayer for us as we navigate through parenting teens; we dearly love them. You really have had a ton of snow this winter. Last week it was springlike here & this weekend our snowdrops are in the snow! ❀ Blessings.

  6. Oh Gosh Wendy these are all amazing! And they should all go in a book of daily meditations! I would be the first to buy! Now I will leave you alone to get on with your novel! 😄 Xx

  7. Wendy, These images and micropoems are some of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen or read. Very inspiring! I agree with journeyintopoetry, these would make a great meditation book! You have such a beautiful spirit.

    1. Zoey, I am so humbled and honored by the encouragement you and other bloggers have given me ~ thank you so much! I indeed have felt God’s speed as I write–I need Him every hour. ❀

  8. Wendy- I am so happy for you. Your blog has grown so much since we first met. Your writings and photos have always been beautiful and thought provoking. But I think more than that is your heart. You have such a beautiful heart for people, for life and for the Giver of life. It shines in your posts. It shines in your comments. Many a beautiful post you have posted- but you surpass them all. May you continue to bloom in great beauty and strength. May your leaves and words never wither and your roots always be planted deep in Him.

    1. Charity, thank you so much for your prayer of blessing. Without my “roots always planted deep in Him” I am fruitless and just a clanging symbol. I need Jesus everyday in every way. God is love and the only true source of it. He has given me a love for reaching out to those especially on and outside the borderland of faith. Blessings back to you, dear sister. ❀

  9. Having just finished a big writing project (55,000 words) I know how it feels to start to see the light at the end of the long writing tunnel. May your work continue to be blessed!

And I love the word “snowdrops.”

    1. Thank you, Bill. for your encouraging words. 55,000 words is definitely more than I have ever done. As the plot thickens I find it more and more motivating to keep writing. ❀

  10. Beautiful Wendy! All your lovely pictures. And I love the poems. Doesn’t matter what length they are, They’re all so inspiring, just as you are. I have every confidence that your book will reach a publisher.

    1. Linda, thank you for your vote of confidence. I’m going to give it my best. It is comforting to read that even published authors have to write through their doubts. ❀

  11. These are lovely micro poems. I still haven’t got the hang of ‘tweets’, but poetry tweets sound good fun and a good community. I can’t wait to hear more about your novel. Good luck Wendy. Xxx

  12. this is such a profoundly beautiful collection of images and poetry,
it inspired my next poem / drawing post for this week. ty fro that
and for liking my recent post, encouragement is always greatly appreciated.

    1. Thank you for visiting me back and for letting me know that this post inspired a poem and art. I often get inspired by other bloggers and it encourages me to think that I just did that for you. ❀

    1. Thank you, Ellen. I am fast becoming hooked on micropoetry. I can make one up while out in nature and remember it for when I return to the computer. ❀

    1. Theresa, I took this picture on a walk and I don’t know the name of the flower. It appears to be a perennial that blooms in the late summer. The way the light was shining on the seed heads begged attention. ☘
