What Kind of God?

What Kind of God?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What kind of man
would dive into a raging sea
to save a drowning child
that he might live and breathe?
~
What kind of woman
would give her only piece of bread
to feed hungry children
that she might starve herself instead?
~
What kind of God
would die a death vulgar and cruel
to save a wanton sinner
from the plight of feckless fools?
~
What kind of person
would not heed such Love Divine
and receive the gift of grace
 Christ has given as yours and mine?
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man,
though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Christmas is just around the corner,
and I thought I would focus this post on why Jesus came to earth in the first place.
It certainly was not to boost retail sales in the dead of winter.
Emmanuel means: ‘God with us.’
Christ came to rescue and save us.
God did not send his Son to shake his finger at us.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him.
John 3:17
This is why the Gospel is called the ‘Good News.’
The bad news is that every person has missed the mark of righteousness.
Everyone needs a Savior;
it ain’t Superman or Spiderman
 Prime Minister Stephen Harper and President Obama won’t be able to save us either…
 as I am sure you know by now!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Whoever believes in him is not condemned,

but whoever does not believe stands condemned already

because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only son.

John 3:18
