Eternal Embrace
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our burdens both are lightened
as we share together in our night
In communion our joy is heightened
No masks are worn when we meet again
Our hearts poured out and it’s alright
~
Our cares and woes both shared
as we join together our soulful pain
We lock eyes with hearts bared
Dreams and disillusionments not spared
No pride allowed to mock what we have gained
~
Our souls empowered to believe
Common faith that binds us as one
I believe in you and you in me now cleaved
We know our strength joined will not leave
We have Power on our side already won
~
Spirits sharpened as shoulders rub each day
Years passed and still our love does shine
Eternal kinship lights the path along our way
Love’s the Lamp fueled with joy that we may stay
Oh the delights now ours and to come Divine.
I intended to write this poem about friendship;
however, it went far beyond just friends.
But aren’t the best marriages ones that are built on friendship?
~
~
A girlfriend and I took pictures in Filberg Park.
Although I took about 300 pictures – I will just show you a few…
~
~
My husband and I have been here several times.
We’ve attended craft shows and even an outdoor church service in this park.
~
~
It was so quiet when my friend and I were visiting…
that the deer were grazing peacefully.
~
~
This was the only buck we saw in the park.
There were at least five deer.
~
~
It was a pleasure to find some flowers still blooming.
~
~
I need to come here in the spring and summer on a quiet day.
~
~
A restful spot for two.
~
~
There were dozens of ducks lining the shore.
They swam away as I got closer to the beach.
I took a few pictures and backed away so they could be at peace.
~
~
Classic West Coast scenery.
Sometimes I miss the sunny days of my semi-arid hometown.
But I would miss the sea so much more…
~
~
Years ago, my husband and I lived in a remote northern community
where sunny days were much rarer than they are here.
~
~
Coho Salmon were plentiful though.
We would catch our limit each time out.
~
~
I wish digital cameras would have been available then.
It would have been wonderful to have taken more pictures than I did.
~
~
I have a confession to make…
the reason I only took 300 at this park…
was because my camera battery died.
~
~
This park is rich with history
(never mind the natural beauty) .
~
~
The Filberg Park (nine acres) has a very intriguing story.
It was donated to be kept from development and is protected as a Heritage site.
What a blessing it is to our community.
Here is a link to it’s history: http://filberg.com/home/history/
Beautiful poem Wendy and your images are sheer magic. There’s just something about trees.
Thank you, Don. I agree that there is something special about trees; Treebeard would boast that they are not hasty.
Lesson learned… take extra batteries! 300 of this scenery is not enough! 🙂
Thank you, Hope, for making me smile. 🙂
Laughing ‘cos I thought taking 50 was too many LOL 🙂
On short walks, like today, I only take about 60.
Beautiful post Wendy.
Thank you, Tim
Such a very lovely poem, Wendy–and I get that twinge of envy. People thrive in good marriages. Lovely photos too! God bless you BIG–love, sis Caddo
Good marriages can only happen if both people have basic goodwill. Spouses that leave an abusive partner, who refuses to ‘see the light,’ deserve honor. xo
I’m very thankful that God gifted me with the ability to do well as a single woman, after my marriage became impossible and untenable–He has never seen me as a failure, which is so reassuring. And truly, I’m not sure I could have come to the place I am with Him now, were my circumstances different–so I’m definitely praising Him. But I’d be less than honest if I didn’t admit the “romantic little girl in me” would have loved to have the happy marriage.
I love your attitude, Caddo!
Thanks for these photos, I love them. (I also enjoy looking at your garden pictures – wish I could do that!)
Thank you, Valorie. I would miss gardening…
Lovely your photos are very uplifting with words and marriage to 👏
Thank you. Friendship is a true treasure.
Great poem and nice serie photos
Thank you. It was a lovely walk.
Such wonderful pictures and the poem is a beautiful tribute to the most intimate relationship which suppose to mirror Christ’s relationship with the Church … Such a blessing to visit here
Thank you, Heidi. I love how respectful and kind Jesus was to even women of questionable repute.Unconditional love and respect is the secret to a divine-like marriage.
Oh, I’m so glad the park was saved. It’s a lovely place. Very nice photos, poem, and post, Wendy. Blessings, Natalie 🙂
Thank you, Natalie. I am really enjoying the parks in our valley. Stopping to take pictures helps me pace myself too. 😉
We have some parks and back roads here that I like to wander with my camera in hand from time to time as well. But it’s really nice to see photos of areas with different vistas. And so your posts are always a verbal and visual delight. Blessings, Natalie
Beautiful scenes, beautiful words!
Thank you, Dee!
Thank you for the poem, pictures, and information link for the lodge and park! How blessed you are to live surrounded by so much of God’s majestic nature!
Thank you! My favorite kind of weekend is one that includes visiting a park or two.
The deer, the ducks and the birds speak volumes of the peace ane serenity. Declared a Heritage Site – that’s lovely.
Thank you, Wendy, for sharing,
Eric
Thank you, Eric! I appreciated that the trees were given room to grow to their full glory.
What a special place, special marriage, special poem and post! Giggling about you wanting to take more photos, but the battery died! God bless you and yours!
Thank you, dear Debbie! It makes me smile if I can inspire a few giggles.
Wonderful photos…looks like a great place to spend some time…I had a bit of a chuckle when you mentioned the only reason you took 300 photos is the camera battery died! I’ve had that happen just when I didn’t want it to… 🙂
Thank you, Heather, for helping me feel normal. 😉
lol…my pleasure Wendy! 😉
Glad you included the link to Filberg park; a fascinating story behind the park. So many beautiful trees and I can see that bench just waiting for you to return.
I look forward to visiting it again. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed the link. 🙂 History that includes ordinary people always fascinates me.
Me too.
Enjoyed your walk in the park, the poetry that inspired your heart and the beautiful fall trees. You know that most photographers take hundreds of shots to find that handful of the perfect pics…from what I see here…you found some very special moments. Thank you for sharing this day at such a historical park…wonderful! ~Zoey
Thank you, Zoey! Yes, I feel I need to take many pictures from various angles and settings in order to ‘stumble’ across just the right one. To do is to learn.
Thank you, Geraldine!
A wonderful post, Wendy. Your words about “friendship” describe so well marriage–and I’m blessed with a husband who is my best friend! Blessings ~ Laura
Laura, it is lovely to hear that we share in this blessing. It gives hope to the generations coming up behind us…
I agree, Wendy. The best marriages do begin with friendship. Mine did. 🙂 I love this poem, I can feel the love and devotion in every line. Your photos as usual are stunning. I especially love the beautiful, old tree. The two branches growing so strong and close together. It works so beautifully with your poem. Hugs, Elizabeth
