The first picture of the honeysuckle I took while using a flashlight to give it some more light from the left side as it was a gloomy morning… BYO light when necessary is an idea I learned from Rick Braveheart’s blog http://thegreatamericanlandscape.wordpress.com  He gives really helpful photography hints in his posts.

I think this is the first time I’ve posted black and whites.  I’ve been intrigued by the ones many of you have shared – thank you for inspiring me!

Here is a fourth picture for you to write your own poem, haiku, or thoughts about in the comment box – if you’d like to.  I’ll be waiting…

  1. The black and white is quite nice. Also think that your posts are much easier to read on the eyes when done on a white background. Or if you type in black instead of the blue or purple. Oh never mind me- your poetry is lovely. I like it very much.

    1. I appreciate your suggestions as I have been considering some changes since another blog I follow has changed their background and I love it! But I am slow to change so we’ll see? 😉

Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂

    1. Hi Paulama! I am enjoying the great outdoors today. A long walk and then garden work (read play) has me feeling pretty good. And Ian is barbecuing ribs so that means I’m off kitchen duty til later. 🙂 It’s a holiday Monday here in BC.

I hope you are enjoying and appreciating those blue skies over there on your continent. The sun has been holding out on us… Hugs!

  2. I love your black and white photos too, Wendy! Wish I could have risen to your challenge, to put a poem here, inspired by your photo–but all that came to my mind was “frozen caterpillar”! Not very good at all! God bless you–love, sis Caddo

    1. Caddo, I love the image you came up with – ‘frozen caterpillar’. Hugs! And I love taking insect pictures… can’t wait! I am hoping for some butterflies that give me a chance to focus before they fly off. (I need some frozen ones!) 😉

    1. Calee, your wonderful photography skills create poetry in picture form! Hugs! 🙂 I prefer color most of the time, but I do like the mood B&W makes…

  3. There is something about black and white photos that I love too, Wendy! Congratulations on getting such good ones! and matching them with wonderful haiku! I’ve got nothin’ for that last one either! But if something comes to me, I’ll be back! God bless you bunches!

    1. Thank you, Debbie! I lost the original haiku I had written for the pictures and after I had posted these I found them. I prefer these ones. One has to be in the right mood to write!

    1. Thank you, Julian! I admire all the work and projects that you and your wife do on your property. I garden organically, but I just dabble compared to you two. Your blog pictures are amazing…

Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂

  4. love the photos and your Haiku…I’ve never written a Haiku…but I’m finding the words come easier to me now…so maybe soon I’ll give it a try.

    1. Thank you, Heather! I took a while just observing others’ haiku before giving it a try. If we’re drawn to a particular style of writing then it may be a sign we want to give it a whirl?

    1. Thank you, David! I didn’t notice all the water droplets on the first picture until I seen it on my computer screen. It was a pleasant surprise! Thanks for the inspiration of your B&W shots.

Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂

    1. Melody, at least you get more beautiful blue skies with your fluffy white flakes! 😉 But I imagine even your kind of snow gets tiresome. Spring just keeps looking better all the time.

      1. It HAS been beautiful – but the getting stuck and slipping around on roads and shovelling and bad highways and cold temps and storms and wondering if I can get to work is getting a LITTLE old… 😉

        1. Hugs to you for such scary driving conditions. My hometown was snowy and icy. I remember some scary drives and slides… But you endure even more than I did in my younger days. Warm weather wishes for your province – minus the floods!

          1. There are always trade-offs, right? I am grateful for the sun when it shines – I sure notice when there have been several days in a row without it, so I know how foggy and overcast conditions can get your spirit dragging, too…

    1. Yours and a few others’ B&W posts inspired me! Thank you, Daisy. I LOVE your haiku!! I spotted a crocus opening today under our willow tree. 🙂 Indeed, spring is on its way!

Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo

  5. Gorgeous photos, Wendy. A very successful start to your monochrome adventure. I love your haiku, too. You are such an adventurous person, venturing out into the relative unknown. Well done!! I so enjoy my visits to your site. A feast for the eyes and the soul. Bless you.

    1. Lizzie, what a treat to read your comment! I need to thank you for your influence on my B&W post as your blog has also featured them. I figure there’s no harm in trying when it comes to photography, poetry, and other creative ventures.

  6. One of my favorite photos is a black and white one I took of our eldest child at his wedding.

For your last photo, one haiku for you:

    capture essence, snow
    pine fingers caress their dreams
    with a white blanket
