Sons and Roses!

On my previous post, I used only the photos I’d taken of one rose-bush. There were other roses I had photographed, and  I’d like to share some of them with you today.

I’d also like to dedicate today’s post to my two teen sons.

Boundaries can be a very good thing – out of respect for my sons’ requests – I will not feature pictures of their handsome faces.

At our old place, garden boundaries were crucial if I expected to enjoy any rose blooms.  Deer traversed regularly through our property.

My oldest son and I were sitting on the front porch when a doe and newly born fawn emerged from the woods.  The baby was precariously wobbly while mother was cleaning it off.

That was a special mother and son moment… for all four of us!

Soon, as this speckled fawn grew up, our fencing would be the only thing between it and my roses.  I have learned that deer love roses as much as I do.

A few years after this birth, my youngest son handed me a special little card he had made.  It said he was praying that my new rose garden, I was building, would be beautiful!

It did turn out much better than I had anticipated, but not as beautiful as that card and the blue eyes that accompanied it.

I don’t have that particular rose garden anymore; but I have the card and the dear son who made it.

My son, keep your father’s commands and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.  Proverbs 6:20

Bind them upon your heart forever; fasten them around your neck. Proverbs 6:21

When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you. Proverbs 6:22

Thankful for sons and roses,

Wendy

    1. Thanks Mary Ann. I do, indeed, love our children. At supper tonight I was imagining that someone was taking a photo of our family as the five of us were eating. It was one of those meals that everyone liked and we were all laughing together. I have tucked a photo away in my brain… ~ Wendy
