Have you ever said, “Yes,” to an adventure that made you tremble with fear at just the thought of it?
I wish I could say I’ve always allowed perfect love to cast out fear that’s entered my heart and mind.
Thankfully, I’ve learned to allow love to lead me more often. One such time was when I trusted my husband’s guidance as we went on a weekend camping adventure in the West Coast wilderness.

Come with me
On an adventure for two
I promise you won’t regret it
If you’ll only say, “I do.”
Come with me
For a lifetime of love
I promise to cherish you forever
If you’ll only be my dove.

Wendy, thank you for the reminder about not living in fear and your poem was lovely too! 👍
Thank you, dear Tracy. <3 My husband regularly invites me to visit new places on our coastline. Love is better than fear.
A very engaging piece, Wendy. Vividly written.
Thank you, dear Cynthia. I need to apply vivid writing while editing my manuscript. <3
You will — no problem!

Thank you, Wendy. The night before I left to go to my first Army assignment, I had a moment of fear like none I had had before.I rebuffed the fear quickly, remembering the words of a Frank Herbert character, “Fear is the mind-killer.”
What a wonderful thought you chose to dwell on, Michael. Fear kills so many good ideas before they can get out the door. God gives us power to obey when we submit our fear to Him. I’m going to remember the quote you mentioned.
Thank you for sharing this moment with us and helping me remember not to let fear spoil what God has planned in love!
Debbie, I love how you put that. Indeed, I’ve often looked back at things I feared to do and realized they were a door to more of His blessings. <3
Love your poem! So sweet.
Thank you, sweet friend. <3
Thanks for sharing this true romantic story, Wendy. Thanks for showing us that we can let go of our fears and accept life as an adventure with the people we love on earth and with the God who loves us way more than we know how to love him.
Dear Sharon, I love this: “…with the God who loves us way more than we know how to love him.” <3 Thank you, friend.
This is beautiful, Wendy. Thank you for sharing. I find that I frequently remind myself that “perfect love casts out fear”. Some times the very things I fear end up either not being so bad after all and/or a true blessing.
Blessings,
Kim
Thank you, dear Kim. How true “the very things I fear end up either not being so bad after all and/or a true blessing.” So often this happens. <3
Thanks so much for this encouragement, to step out and trust the Still Small Voice. You took us right there and showed us what can happen when we take a chance! What adventures and lessons we often forfeit when we’d rather sit back and watch?! Sending you much love, dear Wendy
Thank you, dear Heidi. <3 I admire the amazing adventure your family said yes to. What a blessing you are to both a few and to many.
Enjoyed the adventure. Makes me want to go camping again. (Maybe)
I giggled at your maybe, dear Karen. 🙂 Blessings on your weekend, friend.
“Come with me – On an adventure for two – I promise you won’t regret it” – these wonderful opening words reminded me of Andrew Peterson’s song, “Dancing in the Minefields”. Thanks for your word; here is a link to some thoughts in that theme: https://rhfoerger.wordpress.com/2015/06/05/dancing-in-the-minefields/. Shalom.
Thank you. Your post and poem perfectly suit the occasion. Nice to meet you.
Blessings ~ Wendy
Hi Wendy, I just found this post after searching for “Memoir.” How funny, I just wrote on my blog about my mental tug of war between wanting to see Hemingway’s Key West home and being afraid to travel on the Oversea Highway (7 mile long bridge) you have to cross to get there. Your post makes me think I’m on the right track in saying I’ll go … thanks!
Susan, I love those serendipity/Providence moments. I had one of those yesterday when our pastor’s sermon reminded us to tune into God each day before we turn on our cellphones. My next blog post is about this very thing. So much for doubting my idea was worth writing about. 🙂 Bridges come in all shapes and sizes–don’t they? By the way, I enjoyed your post too.
