Turning the other cheek is probably one of the most mis-interpreted pieces of scripture. It’s not that we defiantly stand there and let the person strike us again. . . its that we find the grace to love the person who just struck us. Not the typical human response. . .
Gene, I appreciate your mention of grace being the focus and not grinning and bearing it. I remember a passage in Matthew when Jesus disappeared from the midst of an angry mob. He doesn’t expect us to neglect our safety without good reason.
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
