The Garden Path
********************************
The garden path meanders
down a memory lane of blooms
where fragrant roses speak of love
though their blossoms fall so soon
~
I cherish well each moment
that their petals grace my way
as I walk into tomorrow
and the autumn of my days
~
Though the youthful blush of beauty
will indeed make way for snow
there is promise in the rosehip
in whose heart are seeds to sow
~
And so it is with people
since the days do swiftly pass
may our beauty grow inside us
as the only kind that lasts.

Ian and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary on August 19th.
******************************************************
******************************************************
Roses always make me think of my husband; he would often leave a rose at my apartment for me to discover when I returned home from work.
******************************************************
******************************************************
When we got married, and shared an apartment together, he began to give me two roses to symbolize our union.
******************************************************
******************************************************
There have been and continue to be other times when he surprises me with roses.
******************************************************
******************************************************
I love these kind of surprises.
******************************************************
******************************************************
I am surprised how fast thirty years has flown past!
******************************************************
******************************************************
I think the main reason (besides God’s grace) that we have survived and thrived in our marriage is that we continued to do the things we did when we were dating…
******************************************************
******************************************************
things such as walking, hiking, and laughing together.
******************************************************
******************************************************
There is more than one way to spell love (besides luv).

Sometimes we just stroll through our garden, side by side, at the end of the day.

These last three rose pictures are from a local demonstration garden that we toured.

A dear friend told me about it; so I showed it to Ian. He likes surprises too.

My turn. 🙂

Happy Anniversary (though late) next to the Lords blessings and grace, falling in love over and over with the same person is what keeps marriages together, I know we have 26 years in on the 21st of September but have been together 30. I love this blog and your photography is beautiful!
Congratulations on your marriage being a continual falling in love with each other. I love how you described that. I believe that grace is the flexible adhesive needed for a loving and lasting marriage.
🙂
Happy anniversary! May God always bless your marriage abundantly until the end of time Amen!. All of your photos so beautiful.I really love it 🙂 Blessing.
Thank you, Karina, for your kind blessing!
Happy wedding anniversary to you both. I love your poem and photographs. I hope too that beauty within never fades and love matures like a good wine!:)
Thank you for your kind wishes! 🙂
beautiful photos…:-)
🙂 Thank you!
Thank the Lord that he has blessed you with such a wonderful marriage!
He has indeed blessed with his grace, love, and strength. 🙂
Wonderful! Our anniversary is 8 days later than yours and we will be 36. (I say we got married before we were born because I don’t feel old enough to have been married that long – same for you?) For us yellow roses mean the most, as that was the flower Margaret chose for her wedding party. How pleasant that such beautiful things trigger such beautiful memories.
Your poem struck me even more than usual so I just thank you for that.
Peace
Blessings to you and Margaret on your 36th! 🙂 Yes, I don’t feel old enough to be married this long, and it feels like we’ve always been together. We’re still learning new things, and at other times we can read each other without a word being said.
Happy Anniversary from me, too. I love your new, brighter, bigger pictures! Nice change. 🙂
Thanks, Brenda! I am glad to hear that the change is good, from your perspective. 🙂
What wonderful photographs you have.
Congratulations! “As a face is reflected in water,so the heart reflects the real person”. Blessings on your anniversary. Great photos
Thank you! I love your quote!
What a wonderful relationship you two have!! Congratulations on thirty years of wedded bliss!! Just beautiful pics, loved them all!!
Thank you, Barb! We’ve had our share of bombs as well as bliss… but we soldier on and find ourselves even closer for the efforts. 🙂
Beautiful, Wendy! And happy anniversary! 🙂
Thank you, Julie!
Happy Anniversary, Wendy and Ian! You share the same day as my parents; they celebrated 46 years this time!
I love what you said about continuing to do the things you did when you were dating. Becoming parents and the difficult seasons of V’s career have kept us on our toes, but no matter how long it takes, we still plan dates for a late dinner or coffee. The little things seem to have a bigger impact as time goes by.
As for surprises…I’m pretty easy to please–I beam with delight if V has stopped for an iced coffee on his way home and he gets my favorite, too.
Many blessings! –Alison
Thank you. 🙂 Happy Anniversary to your parents, Alison!
You are so very correct about “the little things having a bigger impact as time goes by.” It’s the little things that can carry or crush a relationship;they truly do add up.
Blessings ~ Wendy
What a beautiful relationship you both share!! Happy anniversary, Wendy!! You came up with such a beautiful post to share such precious feeling of yours with us. Great post!! 🙂

Thank you! I think it’s a good sign when it is going by fast. 🙂
A very special post … yet another way to spell love … your praise of your husband. Congratulations.
I love your comment – thanks! 🙂
We share the same anniversary! Adam and I were 13 years this year, rather than 30 … and we have just planted a whole load of roses outside the front of our house, mixed colours, that have gone big and lush with hot weather and rain. Love them! And loved this post too x
Frances, how wise you are to plant roses where you will walk past them each day and even see them from the windows. Congratulations on your 13th anniversary! Thank you for your lovely comment.
How absolutely wonderful Wendy! Congratulations not only for your anniversary, but for the amazing photos. The Father has blessed you in more ways than one 😉

Hello my lovely, Wendy-Lee!
I love roses and how beautiful that each day is like a date. 30 years??? Wow, not too many young people can say that these days. You were one of the lucky ones. I’ve never been into surprises, maybe I’m a control freak! Lol
Happy belated Anniversary to you, my friend. Love and hugs to you. Paula xxxxxx
Hi dear Paula,! I like surprises; however, I don’t fare so well with changes initially. That is what I love about God; He is stable and solid like a rock. Thank you for your always warm words, my sweet Aussie friend. xo
Your blog with your writing and your photos are excellent!
Thank you so much, Leo, for your encouragement! 🙂
Happy Anniversary! This year we’ll celebrate our 28th.
Love the pictures!
Thank you, Bill! Congratulations to both of you on 28 years! 🙂
Absolutely beautiful journey through roses with you. Where roses have thorns also, I congratulate you on your wonderful anniversary and a beautiful journey through the fragrance of the roses, instead of the thorns from the bush… that’s how marriage should be. Thank you for being a wonderful example.. Many blessings to you…
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! The only thorns in a rosy marriage should be those that guard against ill-willed intruders… 🙂
Amen.. Many blessings to you and your husband. May you be an example to many…
just like symbol of peace….
Peace is required for love to blossom. 🙂

Thank you! 🙂
Wendy, your post is so very breathtaking…and the images just sweep my heart away…this year we celebrated our 36 year anniversary, and i recently placed a poems from our 30th wedding anniversary when we renewed our vows and got married again before both sides of our families. When I courted my wife i would write a poem in a hallmark card and give her at least six a day. We met the last week of April 1977 and we were married June 24, 1977. And l am still swept away by her smile, every morning when she awakes. Your post, reminds me of that and your poem is one of the most beautiful I have ever read. Thanks for sharing! And may God always provide an abundance of blessings to you and your family! Spiritual hugs always my sister!
Thank you, Wendell, for such a beautiful and inspiring comment. People are blessed when they witness such long lasting and committed love. Your wife sounds lovely and definitely blessed. I have kept every poem that my husband and I have written for each other from the beginning…
Blessings dear poet friend ~ Wendy
The poem from my 30th that I shared last week was ‘True Love Blossoms’.
I will look it up. Thank you! 🙂
