I thought that you might appreciate a break from winter, and so I’ve posted these photos from one of the Saturday morning outings Ian and I took last summer… Our thirtieth wedding anniversary is coming up in August. Time flies when you’re having fun! Well – most of the time… 😉
Blissful Blessings ~ Wendy xo
I love fragrant flowers. What is your favorite type?
What a beautiful post – I’m a girl who loves Daisies, snap dragons, roses, lilies …..I don’t think I have a favorite – I love them all!
Thank you! As each flower comes into bloom it is a favorite for the day. You are wise to love them all.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
thanks for the lovely winter break
Thank you, Ben! It’s back to ice on the next post…
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂
Thanks for the pretty flowers. As far as scents, roses are my favorite, but favorite flower I’d have to say… daisies. 🙂
You made me smile, Daisy! Hugs! What I love about daisies is that they last so long in the garden or in a vase. They are lovely troopers.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
I love these pictures, and the words that bring them to life! As for my favorites…I loved having periwinkle hydrangeas in my wedding bouquet (we also have a summer anniversary, and this will be our 12th!), I also like lilies a lot. Bright, vibrant, tropical colors always make me smile! I made up a haiku while at a red light this afternoon, but I don’t know if I’ll remember it well enough to post it…I’m glad I got to read yours! Blessings–Alison
I love picturing you sitting at a red light composing a haiku! My purse now holds a notebook and pen at all times for those impromptu poems. I hope to read some of yours on your blog…
Periwinkle hydrangea sounds very lovely! I love hydrangea and even brought some cuttings with me from the old place.
Blessings dear Alison ~ Wendy xo
All right, one little poem has been added to my blog about the palm tree. I have been so slow in writing these days, but not for lack of material. I hope, when the dust settles a bit, to write about our latest family adventures and steps of faith. Have a lovely afternoon! –Alison
Alison, I popped over to see it and I love it! Both the haiku and picture are wonderful! I’m praying for the right doors to open for your family…
Thank you! Things are looking good; a lot of waiting, praying, and waiting again! God is good!
Lovely. The flowers are nice too.
Thank you my dear Ian! I look forward to strolling through the flower garden with you, this summer, with our after dinner coffees.
Blessings H.H. ~ Wendy xoxo
Morning, Wendy-Lee!
Love the flowers. I was married in Las Vegas on the 15th May 2000! Lol hugs from Oz! …. Paula x
Thank you, Paulama! No wonder you are a kindred spirit – you got married on the same day that I gave birth to our daughter. It was the fastest of the three births I went through, and she was the easiest baby to care for too.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
That’s so cool! x
🙂
The flower photos are amazing! And the accompanying haikus too! What a sweet surprise for us today! I am like so many others . .just love them all! 🙂 Thank you and God bless you, Wendy! p.s. I did want lilacs at my wedding . .I just love the smell of them!
Debbie, lilacs are truly wonderful! Great choice. My daughter can smell ours from her bedroom window. They don’t like our rainy climate, but they smell just as nice anyway…
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
lovely flowers…I don’t really have a favorite…I love them all!
Heather, it sounds like you may like cottage gardens that are packed with variety. I sure do…
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
yes…love them! having said that my eye is drawn to mixtures of white, purple, fuchsia, pinks first…
I love white and red roses. White tulips and orchids.
Greetings Gabi
I will be sure to take pictures of my white tulips if they survive winter well. Then I will post them here for you, Gabi!
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Thank you wendy love. I look forward to.
Gabi
🙂
Oh Wendy, this was a wonderful break. When I saw the email with your post, featuring the gorgeous pink whatever it is (I’m terrible with names… people names & flower names :D), I just had to come and see! Both the flowers and the haiku’s were beautiful.
As for my favorites, the truth is if I had a favorite, I probably still wouldn’t know what it’s called… although I do love bleeding hearts… I love you too, my friend!
Many blessings,
Cheryl
Cheryl, I get caught not knowing names of plants in my own garden! 🙂 Hugs & love to you! I know a lot of them because I worked in a garden store and I read garden magazines and books – but I still get forgetful. We have a little bit of bleeding heart that I hope to photograph this year.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Beautiful flowers and words!!!
Thank you, Rexlin! I always enjoy seeing the red rose when you visit!
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
very lovely in picture and words.
groetjes, Francina
dank u, Francina
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Oh Wendy, I thoroughly enjoyed the break–could practically feel the warmth and smell the flowers and grass! Lovely!! God bless you Big–love, sis Caddo
Caddo, I think I may need to round up some more flowers soon – we’ve had no sun for almost two weeks and I need the colors to brighten things up… It does make it seem extra cozy in the house with all those “pewter” skies outside! Hugs!
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
I’m curious, Wendy–whether your talents extend to drying your flowers and making arrangements for year round decor?? That would be wonderful!
I love drying flowers, Caddo! There are bouquets of dried hydrangea and lavender in our home. 🙂 How did you know?
I just had a sneaking suspicion! I picture your home like a lovely bed and breakfast place!
Wonderful images and words, Wendy. The pinwheel flower was particularly intriguing. Your sensitivity nature is something to be deeply admired. Thanks for a wonderful post.
Thank you, Don! My husband liked the pinwheel one the best too. I think he’d like me to plant some at home. I may need to dig up some more lawn (with his help…).
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂
This is a lovely post on a cold morning. Daffodils and Lilly of the Valley are my favorites.
Thank you! I love how daffodils naturalize easily. The deer don’t eat them either.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
“Pink blush on petals”…I do love that rose and the description. Blessings sweet lady! Marsha
Marsha, I hope you are still getting sunshine in your garden. We’re having fine mushroom growing weather and I have tons of new mushroom photos to post again. 🙂 I prefer flowers.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Hi Wendy, It is still sunny here with temps in the 70’s this week-perfect weather to work outside. I even had bluebird visitors this morning, inspecting the birdhouses on my arbor; they’re such sweet little birds. Sending ‘warm’ wishes your way, my friend! ~ Marsha
Thank you for the warm wishes, Marsha! The sun shone through the window onto my face for a few minutes, today, as I cleaned up the kitchen. When I was outside I spotted daffodils just peeking up through the ground… 🙂
Nice haiku poems, Wendy! And I *love* the pictures!!! Can’t answer your question though, I have too many favourites 😉
Calee, I’m glad to hear that you love flowers because that means you’ll post them when it’s blooming time again… 🙂 I look forward to them.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Amazing haikus and photos. I’m officially ready for summer!
Me too, Jade! I was sorting some seeds today…
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
So refreshing to see these soft and bright colors and remember the scent of summer! I love irises, especially the light lavender colored ones that have the most delicious spicy-sweet smell. Orchids and lilies delight me with their structures and forms. But my very favorites are wildflowers…so whimsical and adding a surprise of color around every turn.
Sheri, I love the surprise element of wildflowers too! They grace the landscape expecting nothing in return from us.
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Just remembered my columbines…a definite favorite. There were some wild in my yard and I’ve collected my seeds and traded with other friends here that did the same, so now I have many colors popping up all over my yard. I have a little gallery of them from last Spring here if you want to see: http://sherijkennedyriverside.wordpress.com/journal-expressions/in-the-garden/columbines-in-the-evening/#
Yes, I’d love to see them. I also have a wildflower post from summer. 🙂 I’ll be right over…
Where is your wildflower post? Will you put the link in comments on my Columbine page or on my In The Garden page under ‘Journal Expressions’. I’d love to have the link there to lead my readers to your beautiful photos and poetry too.
Hi Sheri, Here is a link to the wildflower post and one to my favorite columbine flower. One post is a poem and the other is musings about parenthood/son.

I hope I did this correctly? 🙂
Thanks so much for the links. Beautiful!! I had to copy and paste the links after the https// in my address bar, but that’s easy enough. Next time, just copy and paste that part too and it will take folks straight there.
Anyway, I would encourage anyone that reads this to copy and paste the links…really refreshing flower and poetry posts. 🙂
Very beautiful, Wendy.
Thank you, Michelle! Spring is around the corner…
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
I love small flowers, snowdrops, violets, Michaelmas Daisies, roses (bud stage) and your poems.
What a lovely list and a lovely compliment! Thank you! We are blessed to have those flowers in our garden…
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
Thank you, Jayden! I don’t participate in awards anymore, but I will be posting a thank you post soon for any nominations I have received. Congratulations on your award! You take awesome pictures!
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
This August 30 years, how lovely. Your Haiku lovely. All that I’ve read. Loved what you said on the snow, “enjoy while it lasts.” Nice metaphor for how to live. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words! Sorry that I did not reply to this comment sooner, as I found this in the spam box. That’s been happening a lot lately…
Blessings new friend ~ Wendy 🙂
So pretty! Thanks for the like of my post “Sun Going Down Today”.
You are so welcome! I love branches against colorful skies. It is one of my favorites to strive for.
