Joy can blossom
in any season
with thanksgiving and praise
when we lift our hearts in love
to the Ancient of Days

Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves is heard
in our land.

Recently, an owl called out to my husband and me.
We were on a favorite neighborhood walk,
after having finally recovered from a flu.
It was a simple-pleasure-turned-treasure
to be outside after being housebound for a week.
The owl seemed to be celebrating along with us.

I’m sharing this flower-power bouquet of fresh picks
from a local demonstration garden.
I take so many pictures that I’m able to save some for a rainy day.
And believe me, we’ve had some very rainy days in our valley.

The same week Ian and I were sick,
our valley experienced some flooding.
He couldn’t go to work because the area was under water.
Our home was safe and dry.

By the time my husband was well,
the flood had receded, and all was back to normal.
I’m thankful for the timing, so that he only missed one week of work.
He’s thankful too.
There’s always something we can be thankful for.

So no matter how gray and rainy it gets here on the coast,
I’ll remember that spring is just around the corner.
Thanksgiving is always in season.
