Portrait of a Poet
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A picture is worth
a thousand words
A poet harvests
a portion with ink
First penned on heart
Spoken in solitude
Written by hand
with whispering words
First reading
Second reading
Will it do?
Scribe
Scribble
Scrap
How many unread stories
are crumpled
and thrown
upon the hearth?
Are poems unknowingly
reincarnations
of some other work?
After all…
There is nothing new under the sun.
So the poet
sticks to the Truth
It’s worth repeating
over and over
again
For we
like children
learn through repetition.
I thought of the delicate petals and this is what I read. I’ll leave the other 900 words for another time…
