The Arbutus Tree

Majestic
Warrior like limbs
Solid and strong
Yet smooth
as skin
Burning in sun
flakes fall
paper-thin
as summer snow
uniquely curled
and small
In spring
you loosen leafy shawl
as if to taunt the trees
that lost their’s
in fall
When winter wages war
and deciduous trees
parade bare
you flaunt
your
waxy emerald coat
as if you hadn’t
a care!

I love everything about our Arbutus tree. It’s refusal to fit in with the crowd reminds me of Someone I dearly love. He was about his Father’s business, and the establishment was largely not impressed!
