The Light I Shine: Faith

Let your light shine before others, that they may... glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:15 NIV

Faith

Though at times
the light I shine
seems feeble
compared to others

It’s Light Divine
that’s forever mine
& free
for sisters & brothers

For Christ came
to redeem & save
sinners like me-
like you

So simply repent

& trust

He’s enough

& you’ll be Christ Lights

too.

The above poem is one I borrowed from my Twitter  account. I wrote it in response to a poetry prompt.

Sometimes:

Sometimes I drop everything I’m working on and reply to a picture or word prompt because it stirred something in my heart.

Sometimes deep waters are stirred and I end up writing a podcast or blog post too.

Nosy-to-Know Time:

I’m nosy-to-know if you ever feel like you’re a lousy light for Jesus?

If you’ve listened to many of my podcasts, you already know I often feel that way about myself. You will also know that I believe that whenever we bring our burdens to the Lord, He encourages us to remember He is the One who lights our candles and keeps them burning.

All the glory, and all the burdens, belong to God. We just need to believe, trust, and obey.

If you’re nosy-to-know what I’m podcasting about lately, please click here to listen to any of my 160 podcast episodes: Walking with Hope

I’m working on a future podcast about a Bible verse I was going to write about today; however, it got kinda wordy. I decided it would be better as a podcast and future blog post for my other blog. I love it when I can’t stop writing.

And speaking of blog posts, here’s the link to my main blog where I share memoir style posts: Wendy L. Macdonald

I’ve borrowed the following pictures from my Facebook page: WendyLMac

  1. Sweet Wendy, if I was on any of the social media, I would be following you … for sure. I tell people I am definitely not mature enough to handle all the pressure of what those bring into my life, hence I just have the blog. BUT … I LOVE coming here to “see” you and am always inspired by what you have to say!
In response to your “nosy” question:
I am trying to understand better that my weaknesses and failings are a place for the Holy Spirit to intercede for me (Romans 8:26-27) and that these weaknesses teach me to be gracious and merciful toward others and that in exactly these weaknesses the Light of God is displayed.

    1. Thank you, dear Heidi. I understand about avoiding places where we’re weak. Ever since I began my recovery from eating disorders back in 1983, I avoid diet and fitness magazines etc. I never want to fall off the recovery wagon. It’s too swift and deep a river for me to handle.
Television and cable are the things my husband and I avoid. We love evening walks and books. <3
Social media has a bright side and a dark side. The bright side is sharing Light and meeting beautiful people. Blogs are great for finding lovely friends too–like you. 🙂

  2. “All the glory, and all the burdens, belong to God. We just need to believe, trust, and obey.” Oh, Amen! May I keep remembering that, and cling so tightly to Him there. Thank you for sharing the light of Jesus through your words and images, Wendy. You are a blessing to me.

    1. Thank you, dear Bettie. I thought of you last night. You’ll know why when you read my comment on your blog. Your post blessed me. <3
The word "beauty" keeps popping up in things I read. God is asking me, teaching me, to notice and know His beauty. I can't wait to see Him with our new eyes. 🙂

  3. Bless you and thank you, Wendy, for being a light on social media! I just couldn’t keep up with it all, but I am so thankful that it is somewhere God has you shining!
