Complete brings to mind that my dear friend of fifty plus years completed her journey on earth this week. I will miss her. She was a grandmother too. Already I’ve wanted to pick up the phone and ask her a grandma to grandma question. But I will need to talk to the Lord about it instead. That’s not a bad thing, as He is the best friend to go to with questions anyways. But I do appreciate all the chats my friend and I had. I am grateful I was able to glean so much wisdom from her over the years.
She was married first, had children first, and had grandchildren first. So it was convenient to ask her anything about these topics. She was a woman of God who didn’t rely on her own strength. She loved her friends as Christ loved the church and continued to pray for all of us. She completed the race of life well because she leaned into the One who makes us complete.
Complete in Christ
That’s how a godly woman should be
For He is able to provide
All the strength and wisdom she needs.

And you are complete in him, who is the head of all principality and power: Colossians 2:10 NKJV
I’ve written this post in response to the word: Complete. You are invited to join in the fun here: FMF Link-up
I’m nosy-to-know if you’ve recently lost a sister-in-the-Lord on this side of Heaven. Hugs if you have, dear friend.
P.S. I’m going to be okay because God has got my back. He’s got your’s too.
{{hugs}} Abundant blessings
Thank you, dear Ann. <3
You’re so welcome Wendy. Abundant blessings!
I am struggling with many things that might seem small right now – but added together they sometimes seem insurmountable. Please pray for me my friend…
Dear Maureen, I’ve added your name into my prayer book. Names I add to it stay there. As long as I’m able, you’ll be prayed for. <3
Dear Wendy – I am so grateful
I’m so sorry for your loss, WendyMac, and so inspired by your faith, hope, and love!

Thank you, Andrew. You and Barbara inspire me with your faith and courage. You both are an inspiring example to all couples to complete the course with Christ.
I lost a dear friend a few years ago. It still seems like yesterday. I thought we would grow old in friendship but it was not to be. We have been given the gift of great friendship, you and I, and others, too. How lovely is that!
Thank you, dear friend. I couldn’t agree more that great friendships are a gift. <3 When another friend happened to show up for a visit the day after I found out sad news, I was reminded that God's gifts are always timely because He is always good.
🙂 🙂
Wendy, my condolences on the loss of your friend, but I rejoice with you that her completeness was in the only one who can offer it, as is yours, and as is mine. That is a truth sorely needed by so many who seek to find completion in other human beings. It is almost a form of abuse, because no one can live up to that standard. We are made to be in union with our Creator, and no human, not even my beloved spouse, can fill that void.
Damon, your words are both truth and a comfort for anyone in Christ who has lost a loved one. I’m glad I responded to this prompt because it reminded me deep down inside I am complete in Him no matter what happens here on earth. We have more to offer others when our completeness is in Christ instead of in others.
I’m sorry for the loss of your friend, but I love that she has been such a blessing to you over the years and that you can point to hope even in the midst of grief.
Thank you, dear Lesley. She would love nothing more than to see those she loved walking with the Hope of Christ and shining it on others.
Dear Wendy,
As I was praying for you this past week as you shared about your friend, I did not know that I would be walking those same steps this weekend! My husband’s best friend of over 50 years, and the best man in our wedding, entered hospice on Wed.pm. The Lord gifted us strength to be able to go visit him before he left this earth, just today, and your words are such a comfort. Truly, he is walking in completeness now! And even though we will miss these friends, they have gone on “first” one more time. I would share these same words for our dear friend: “(S)he completed the race of life well because (s)he leaned into the One who makes us complete.” Blessings and hugs to you, dear Wendy.
Thank you, dear Bettie, for your prayers. Hugs to you both as you grieve the loss of your friend on this side of Heaven. I am finding this grief much gentler, much more gracious, because I know without a doubt my friend is singing, dancing, and praising the Lord. I’m grateful for a gracious God. <3
It will be three years this coming October 30th since my sister Joan passed away. One and a half years older than me, she had been my mentor, teacher and best friend. Although she had her own trials from an unsuitable marriage to Alzheimers and lung cancer, Joan trusted God in tough times and rejoiced with God in the good times. She was always thankful for God’s blessings, especially for her dear daughter and granddaughter. She was always there for me and I learned much from her. My condolences on the passing of your grandmother and friend. Like you, I too must rely more fully on God and share the yoke of my everyday challenges with Christ.
Thank you, dear Sharon. What a gift to have a sister who was a mentor, teacher, and best friend. And what a glorious thought you will be with her forever in the place where no one ever has to say goodbye again. The older I get, the better Heaven looks and the more I look forward to it. Blessings as we “rely more fully on God.” <3
How wonderful to have had a close godly friend such as her for all those years. I am sorry for your loss. But how comforting it must be to know that you are complete in Christ.
Thank you, dear Angela. I felt complete comfort in Christ as I say songs in worship service yesterday knowing my dear friend no longer suffered. She is dancing and praising up a storm–I’m sure. 🙂
Yes, I’m sure she is. Do you know the song, “I Can Only Imagine”? That’s what I picture for our loved ones.
I love that song. And the movie. <3
