Five Minute Friday Prompt: “Turn”

* “Turn your eyes to the Lord and away from the worries of the world because He owns the planet—never mind the universe too.

I needed this reminder to turn away from doubts and turn towards the One who is more than able to fulfill every single promise He has made to His people. For He did not save us to abandon us halfway through the sanctification process.

But those of us who have experienced abuse or abandonment have a tendency to turn away from faith and turn towards fear. Fear was part of our past—a big part of it. We tried to win the love of those who seemed impossible to please. But eventually we saw they were afraid too. They also needed to turn towards the One who could set them free.

Our job is to believe what He has promised so that our healing helps them and others see they may turn to the Living Christ too.

Spring Melt

Spring
A tiny glimpse
Of God’s Face
Who melts me
Into a million puddles
Grace
Each flower petal
Soft feathers of His wing
Covering me warm
With love songs
Sing
Birds build nests
And lay clutches to brood
Eggs filled with hope
Birthing new life
Truth.

Spring Melt Poetry Devotional by Wendy L. Macdonald

Flowers appear in the earth;

the season of singing has come,

the cooing of doves is heard in our land.

Song of Solomon 2:12 NIV

My dear husband and I have been lapping up the loveliness of the season every chance we get. And when I hesitate to step outside, he takes me by the hand to enjoy a nature walk with him. So many blessings happen when we say yes.

God wants us to enjoy Him too.

Why else would He create a vast variety of flowers, birds, and trees? He wants us to turn to Him, taste and see Him, and believe He is good.

O taste and see that the LORD is good;

blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Psalm 34:8 KJV

  1. Oh thank you so much for helping us to turn to Jesus and away from doubt! :). What a precious word and post for us today! Blessings and hope!

  2. Great essay, WendyMac. “Eggs filled with hope” is wonderful!

    My life-verse is Ps.144:1:

Praise be to the Lord my Rock,
who trains my hands for war,
    my fingers for battle.

Sometimes God needs shooters. I’m in.

    1. What a wonderful life-verse, Andrew. It’s a good reminder we’re in the midst of the most important war of all time–the battle for souls.
Blessings as you shoot prayers on behalf of others who are still behind enemy lines, dear brother.
We can look forward to seeing a multitude of prayer eggs that hatched in heaven.

  3. Thank you for the beauty of your words and photos Wendy. I’m so glad “Spring Melt” is upon us and I look forward to all your new photos! I love your life verse on the other blog. So fitting for your calling. My life verse is Isaiah 40:31 – but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. This verse gave me strength to take a trying season day by day. During that time and going forward, eagles started showing up for me to see when hope was really needed 🙂

    1. Thank you, dear Jamie, for sharing your life verse with me. It’s an excellent one and so appropriate for a day by day walk through any wilderness we find ourselves in. And thank you for visiting my post on the InScribe blog. <3

  4. Beautiful and powerful poem, Wendy. And I love these opening lines, “…turn away from doubts and turn towards the One who is more than able to fulfill every single promise He has made to His people. For He did not save us to abandon us halfway through the sanctification process.” I needed that reminder too. Blessings!

  5. You see Wendy, you are the apple of HIS eye. To be the fruit of HIS eye. If you think of the eye it maybe the most vulnerable object on our face. It gives us sight, perceives the distance and reveals Gods Glory as well as the windows to our own souls. But the eye. How precious that God would say you ARE the apple of HIS EYE. Are a summons to be a creation of he that is called IAM not i do. But the eye revealed in our own nature created by the divine that he is the protector of the most vulnerable how it would pierce to know the pain of an eye gorged. Yes the protector of the most high value of his reflection only known to your eye. Its the most guarded least protected instrument in the orchestra of all five senses. For lack of knowledge yea i know it says fruit but dont we all envision the apple on the forbidden tree of knowkedge. Yes its the lack of knowledge that causes my people to perish. For before that fruit of knowledge was taken our only knowledge was the vision of Gods goodness but know we see the evil one before us. Yet God says even while you were yet a sinner did i not love you. So i hold all of you good and bad before my very own eye. In hopes that through the vision i have given you that all may be restored to the goodness of the vision i have for all of you and all of then. Taste and see that i am good. Let the restoration of my fruit be known to all of you. And the golden bowl is where I store them apples like you and I. Golden sanctified by grace bowls and harps. Well thats another story but search out golden bowls in revelations for an in depth study.
    Hope of His Glory

    1. Thank you, dear Nancy, for your inspiring and comforting comment. It’s good to be reminded His children–each and every one–are the apples of God’s eye. I know of a fallen angel who hates for us to remember this.
Blessings & nice to meet you ~ Wendy

      1. Well i had something to say in response to the parents prayers about blame and shame the saducees and pharisees. Each time i say it. It comes out different. My friend said that sounds awesome. You should be recording you arent gonna remember what you are saying later. I recorded it the second time but i left it on record, as i was trying to trim it down but i deleted the wrong half. Maybe i can try this portion a third time tommorrow. I pray its a charm.
