The Birth of Earth
********************
The painted skies of sunrise to sunset
speak of passion within the Artist’s hand
The embroidered flower gardens and fields
tell of order and not haphazard plans
~
The sculptured mountains too magnificent
to be the humble work of chance
Oceans, rivers, creeks all run to proclaim
that they’ve been created to laugh and dance
~
The creatures move upon the earth and sky
to care for young that they’ve produced in pairs
While trees reach up as if to offer praise
and grow to anchor beneath the ground with care
~
And so the story of our beginning
continues to be narrated across this earth
While sun, moon, and stars echo the words
Our existence is not by chance–but by birth.

For since the creation of the world
God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power
and divine nature–have been clearly seen,
being understood from what has been made,
so that men are without excuse.

In May this blog turned two years old.
I’ve shared a lot of pictures and poems in that time.
The pictures I share with you are usually the result
of having experimented with different angles and lighting.
~
~
My favorite lighting is early morning or late afternoon.
If it’s particularly bright out I purposely take pictures of flowers
in dappled light (especially white ones).
~
~
My favorite place to take pictures is in my own garden.
This is because I can run into the house and grab my kneeling pad
for close to the ground shots.
I can unabashedly contort myself into the oddest corners
and positions with only my family to occasionally catch me;
but they are used to me and don’t even bat an eye.
~
~
I take lots of pictures of each subject.
The more time I spend–the more I experiment.
Often it’s the shot that was taken later in the shoot that becomes my favorite.
I’ve learned that it’s not about the kind of camera you own…
it’s the passion behind it that counts the most.
That’s true for so many things in life.

So beautiful,sis 🙂
Thank you, dear Karina. God’s art is the best. ❀
Beautiful post Wendy. and lovely poem. I always love your photos with words on them. Sadly I am unable to bend and contort these days or I would be flat on the ground, but I still manage some reasonable photos on autofocus and at eye level. I may have to buy a bite switch to make it easier for me; Im looking into it. Your photos are all amazing. Love and blessings xx
Thank you, dear Christine. Sometimes I set my camera on a rock or bench to take a picture if I’m without my kneeling pad or tripod. The tripod and I don’t get along too well since I always manage to pinch my fingers with it. ❀
That’s a good idea! X
As always, a magnificent post, a beautiful prayer to our Creator, reflecting the visions and thoughts of a wonderful soul.
Thank you, dear Ellen. The only wonderful thing about my soul is the Holy Spirit that resides there. ❀
Very inspiring post, Wendy. Both your words and photographs are so beautiful. God’s blessings, Iris.
Thank you, Iris. Blessings for your weekend. ❀
Your words and photos are always so lovely! ~Karen~
Thank you, Karen. I love what creation has for us to see and hear. ❀
Beauty–in words and images. Congratulations on two years blogging!
Thank you, Constance. Time has flown by so quickly. ❀
Wendy,
I like what you said…”I’ve learned that it’s not about the kind of camera you own…
it’s the passion behind it that counts the most.
That’s true for so many things in life.”
The flowers are lovely and the poem delights my heart to read…much wisdom has gone into your thoughts and carried through to what your eye beheld in the lens. God bless you, sweet friend. ~Zoey
Thank you, dear Zoey. I was inspired to write this in response to a secular poem about nature I heard recited on the radio. I would rather worship the Creator than creation. ❀
I share that sentiment, my friend! 🙂
What you speak of are elusive and worth looking for. You manage to find them and convey them through your blog masterfully.
Thank you, Ian. I think we all believe what we’ve chosen to believe. Evidence is often misconstrued to suit whatever world view a person holds dear. ❀ I am grateful for the gift of faith and for a godly husband to share it with.
Wendy- you have blessed my day with this stunning post-lovely words AND pics- have shared the link with FB friends as it is one of the best posts I have ever seen- and I read 50-60 a day;
I look forward to many more posts from you 🙂
Mary, New Zealand.
Thank you, Mary, for both your kind words of encouragement and for sharing to Facebook. Blessings on your weekend. ❀
Oh so good to be here and read your poems of praise to Him and see the photos of praise too! There is something special about your garden being your favorite place to take photos . . . Seeing what He has given you and loving it! :). God bless you and yours!
Thank you, Debbie, for always blessing me with your thoughtful visits and comments. Your blog is a daily respite moment where I am drawn into God’s presence. You always direct our thoughts towards Him. ❀
Another beautiful and uplifting poem, surrounded by pretty flowers. A kneeling mat sounds like a great idea.
Thank you, Patti. A kneeling mat has saved the day so many times. ❀
Beautiful photos and words, Wendy. Happy Second Birthday to your blog.
Thank you for the happy birthday wishes. If you lived closer I’d have you for tea and cake. ❀
Wouldn’t that be lovely! 🙂
I always enjoy your photos and your thoughts, Wendy. I, too, enjoy the early morning and late afternoon light for taking photos. God’s blessings to you as you continue to capture the beauty God’s Creation! Hugs ~ Laura
Thank you, dear Laura. I’ve been enjoying your nature pictures and quotes. It’s always a beauty treat to visit your flower posts. Hugs to you too. ❀
🙂
What a lovely way to look at birth – and your post brings to mind the gratitude for today!
Thank you, Christy. Today is the most important day we have to live–tomorrow doesn’t come for all. ❀
Super!
Thank you, Marylou. ❀
Great. Touching as always.
I think that All is part of a marvelous plan…. The joy of life 😉
Thanks for sharing and best wishes, Wendy, Aquileana 🙂
Thank you, Aquileana. May joy follow you, dear friend. ❀
Beautiful! And you are so right about the camera! hehe. It makes me laugh when people at my art show say, oh you must have a great camera. oh that’s the secret to these good pictures. I just have to get a good camera. And I just smile, but I think to myself, a good picture can come out of any camera, it’s the vision that you have, it’s the time you take (like you do). And your pictures show your love of nature. I always just love to see your work!
Thank you, Linda. I’d love to have a better camera one day and take some photography classes. Right now our budget is aimed towards music lessons and groceries for our growing teenagers. In the meantime I am doing the best I can with what I have–that’s all that’s really required of any of us at the end of the day. It’s so inspiring to visit other nature blogs (like yours). ❀
Great poetry, post, and photos, as usual! Hugs, Natalie 🙂
Thank you, dear Natalie. Hugs to you also. ❀
Beautiful pictures, Wendy with an even more beautiful message…. the greatness of God as seen in nature! Thanks for sharing this beautiful message.
Thank you, Rob, for your visit and for faithfully sharing the Good News. ❀
Lovely words and images Wendy quite dream like.
Thank you, Kath. I’ve been enjoying seeing your artwork on Facebook as well as on your blog. ❀
Thanks for doing both I love showing off some of my daughters work as you would have seen, so much fun
Wendy, your passion is obvious in your writing and photos! Thank you for blessing my day:)
Thank you, Susan. You’ve blessed me with your comment. Today I was reading about the importance of creative passion. ❀
Creative passion carries a lot of impact. And often it’s just what the person looking at it or reading it needs to know.
Your experimenting with different angles with the camera has brought us such delight!
Thank you, Laurie. I still think of you when I use your wonderful advice about tucking our elbows into our sides to keep the camera still when we’re not using a tripod. ❀
Inspirational post, Wendy. A pleasure as always. XO
Thank you, Jennifer. xo I enjoyed your post today. ❀

Aquileana 😀
Thank you, Aquileana, for thinking of me & my blog. I’m honored for the nomination. Even though I don’t participate in awards, I look forward to checking out your latest post. I always learn so much when I read your articles about mythology. ❀
I know you don’ t participate in awards, Wendy… Even though, i still wanted to nominate you.
Best wishes,my friend, Aquileana 🙂
xo Thank you ❀
Wendy – Your photos and poetry are always a blessing.
Thank you, Sheri. I love what you said about talking to God in the garden–He focuses on our heart and not the dirt under our nails. ❀
Is wow a word? OK – maybe not. but AWEsome is! And it’s ripe, sweet, and effective in any season.
Thank you, Jane. I confess that I cried as I read your Father’s Day post. It was beautiful and touching. My dad didn’t accept the Lord as his savior until after I was married. He’s in heaven now. ❀
WOW! At least he did accept the Lord. I pray dally for a very long list of My own immediate fam members who are not interested in knowing Jesus. I fear for them, but they know the way. They just don’t care. Thank you for your kind words.
Beautiful photos, beautiful words! Glory to God! I praise God for you and your blog posts : )
Thank you, Teresa. You’ve blessed me. ❀ God is good all the time.
When you consider the beauty of the earth, can you even begin to imagine the glories of a sinless, perfect heaven!
I get goosebumps at the thought of Heaven, Linda. I posted about it today. Thank you for your visits. ❀
I love your Birth of Earth poem. It’s beautiful. 🙂
Thank you, Laura. It was one that I wrote from a place of passion. ❀
You’re welcome Wendy 🙂 Blessings to you. ♥
