A Haibun Medley

Sometimes in life we must invest our whole being into a task.

It may involve risk; we may tumble.

There’s beauty to be found in the unexpected, if we seek for it.

Life is a mix of pain and pleasure; sweet and sour complement one another.

Life is full of contrasts.

The jagged edge of danger often lurks within the playgrounds of the fragile.

What is purity of heart?

To do the right thing for the right reason?

Love is a discipline; it’s a choice that we make.

Boldness may be required to protect someone we love.

We may need to use it for our own safety too.

Letting someone hurt is hurtful; enabling is toxic.

When I no longer smile at flowers, it will be because my smile has become perpetual.

Perennial flowers are my best friends in the garden.

Wildflowers are the fairies in the woods who smile back at me.

This fellow landed on the thistle just as I was photographing it.

A pleasant surprise!

I love visiting the woods.

I’ve shared with you the wildflowers that my son and I came across along Brown’s River.

You may read about that hike in the previous post.

  1. Wendy, these were so special. The one about being bold, gave me pause and courage. And I loved the last one too, thinking of you gathering peace like flowers, bouquets of joy! Thank you and God bless you!!!

    1. Thank you, Debbie! Being bold is natural for parents to do in protecting their children, but not always in protecting themselves; yet, they set a good example to the little ones to also take care of oneself.

  2. Another lovely treat for the eyes and the mind,, Wendy.

This resonated for me – “When I no longer smile at flowers, it will be because my smile has become perpetual.”

    All good wishes,
    Eric

    1. Laurie, I don’t think that we’ve ever regretted taking a well thought out risk. It is stressful; however, it is better to make your heat pound then to let it languish from giving into fear. Blessings on you two as you walk boldly & wisely into the future.

  3. beautiful pictures…and amazing verse…” walking in the wood…”
    “on a woodland walk…”

  4. I had to look up haibun! Beautiful and profound – you have a way of letting the flowers speak and then telling us what they say! I know that sounds strange, but I think you will know what I mean, dear kindred spirit! And to God be all the glory! Thank you!

    1. Thank you, Wanda! I agree that creation speaks with a gentle voice granted to it by the Creator. May we always be mindful of our need to praise God so that the rocks won’t sing alone…for we are without excuse.

  5. Stunning beautiful, each photo each Ku has its own beauty and together they make such a joyous and delightful read , dear Wendy! Thank you so much for sharing these gorgeous Haibun’s. I love every one of them.
    groetjes, Francina
