A Dandelion Day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Moments slip by seamlessly
with the one you love
drifting dandelion umbrellas
airborne like minute doves
My heart rests in yours
along this trail of life
companions and soulmates
from youth I’ve been your wife
The years have added up
tallied, as on a pockmarked tree
beautiful – though thoroughly aged
with all that has been
The Sun has shined salient
upon our cedar grove
as children approach adulthood
one by one they’re on their own
We’ve led them to Living Streams
each chooses to partake or not
Our roots embedded deep to drink
nourishing our inner thoughts
Soon unveiled eyes behold
what only faith could see
a fruit-filled tree of life
barred no more from sons of Eve.
I have shared with you, Hurford Hill Nature Park, one of our favorite neighborhood walks. This 26.7 acre park, walking distance from our home, was donated by Roberts A. and Adela Smith in 1996 to the town of Courtenay. It has Glen Urquhart Creek (salmon bearing) meandering through it. They were a wise couple in that they made sure a conservation covenant was attached to the land to protect and preserve it as a natural park.
Nature Blessings ~ Wendy
On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the trees are for the healing of the nations.
Revelation 22:2
PHOTO-POETRY….OR IS IT POETIC PHOTOGRAPHY????
This is a lovely poem. Loved the “as on a pockmarked tree…” line. What a beautiful place to walk…and to share with that someone special:)
Patty, I hope that you and yours have special walking places too.
Beautifully rounded off with Revelation 22:2
Peace,
Eric
Thank you, Eric! I long, sometimes, to see the tree of life.
Thank you so much, Wendy, for taking us along on this beautiful walk. You are an inspiration to hold on and look ahead to the reward … Beautifully written!
I so enjoy your woodland walks too, dear Heidi!
Hello Wendy-Lee. 🙂
Beautiful poem! Loved your pictures. Hope your having a great weekend…. hugs Paula xxx
Hi Paula! It’s been a busy weekend, but it is slowing down now. Puttering in the garden helps me to unwind. How are your llamas? xo
Good. It looks like Margie wasn’t pregnant.
I’m happy actually as selling the farm makes me feel sad. If she had had a baby I would have felt worse
You are right, Paula – it would have complicated things for her and you…
Beautiful words, sentiments, and photos.
Thank you, Debby! I love walking with my husband.
Beautiful pictures and words, as usual! Hugs to you sweet Wendy~
Thank you, Camilla! xo
The photos and verse are delightful. We had an issue with our creek…we thought a limb had fallen, but it was 1/3 of a very large tree. We had to take it out so that it wouldn’t block the flow.
Cheers.
Thank you, Jules! In some of our parks beavers like to make dams. I could not believe how big a tree they felled at the latest park we visited. I’m glad you were able to move the tree.
What a wonderful place to enjoy the world with your soul mate! Love the line about the dandelion umbrellas… 🙂
Thank you, Melody! Our community is blessed with lots of parks and walking trails.
I’m moving to Canada. The End.
Bless you Wendy!
Lele, you made me smile… 🙂
Thank you, Mollie! We sang “This is My Father’s World” at service today… one of my favorite hymns.
Love these words 🙂
Thank you, there are still a lot of places around here that I’ve yet to visit.
Beautiful poems Wendy, I love ‘Dandelion days’! Your photographs of the trees are very special.
Thank you! Pictures of nature draw out poetry for me.
What I always love about your poems is the world of life attached to it, at the end of each poem. Reading this has surely enriched my life. God bless you for that! I wanted to click like but it wasn’t working, I don’t know why. But you have touched me deeply and I’ll sleep easy tonight.
Shalom. 🙂 🙂
Thank you, Seyi! I had the same thing happen to me about like buttons not working one day last week. It went back to normal after 24 hours…? Sweet dreams!
How sweet and beautiful. 🙂
I like you love trees and nature I am glad there are people dedicated to preserving it. I really enjoyed the pictures captured in such detail it would seem you are a bit of an artist behind the lense as well as the pen.
Thank you! Creation would be sparse without the trees. The shade they provide is what I’m appreciating lately. 🙂
