Lasting Legacy
********************
No matter
what despair
what derision
what destitution
faith can find a way
through the fog of futility
No matter
how dark
how detached
how desolate
beauty can birth
from the soil of sorrows
No matter
how alone
how assailed
how asunder
Love can lead you
to a lasting legacy.
Wendy/2013
I wrote this, while wrapped up in my car blanket waiting for our son who was in guitar lesson, on a foggy afternoon. The pictures were taken in our garden. Thick fog gave the first picture a magical look. It is the thickest fog I’ve ever seen!
Thank you to my friends who prayed for me about sharing my testimony with the ladies at my church. They were very gracious to me, and I believe God’s love was the focus of the evening. We laughed, cried, and hugged.
Everlasting Blessings ~ Wendy
Have you ever experienced the birth of beauty from the soil of sorrows?
Lovely shots!!! Third one is awesome!!!
Thank you, Rexlin! That third picture was a rare moment of sunshine last week. I just had to photograph it…

Thrilled that the testimony went well. And yes, much of my life has been cultivating seeds in the “fresh fertilizer” that religious people have tried to bury me under. This winter I work outside in all kinds of weather, and so I have seen deep fog, blizzard, clear nights, stars and planets, rabbits, deer, mink, raccoons, possum, muskrat, cats, rabbits, been pushed around in fierce winds and stood in awe on a still full moon night. Different from managing and leadership I used to do, but, much more time with Jesus. I’m not only at peace, but having fun in the Lord (except some of Sat shift when it went down to -15C and I almost froze my toes).I’ll say again your photos and poetic inspirations are part of that fun. May you be blessed like you bless me!
I agree that being outside with nature is often closer to God than being in a religious building. During worship at our church they always post the songs over top nature pictures. I guess a lot of people feel this way too. Thank you for your kind encouragement! I just came in from the garden and noticed some white peeking out from some snowdrop shoots. Soon it will be even harder to spend time indoors…meanwhile keep your toes warm.

This poem is 5-Star, a testimony in itself, Wendy–beautiful truth. I’m so glad for you that your sharing time was so blessed–thank you, Lord!!
You are right, Caddo, that it was the Lord. My knees started to shake as I thought about what I was about to share…then I focused on some scripture and relaxed more than I had hoped. Thank you for the generous rating! 😉
Blessings dear friend and sis ~ Wendy xo
Dear Wendy, you are so right!! Love this poem and the pictures are fantastic!!! The first one is my favourite! 🙂
I’m glad, Calee, that you liked the fog one as I thought of you when I posted it, since I remembered that you like pictures of fog. You’ve helped me appreciate it more. 🙂

It makes me so glad and thankful! I appreciate your kind words!! Hugs 🙂
Oh God bless you, Wendy, as you shared your testimony .. .and His love reigned and ruled the night. Thank You, Jesus, for this precious sister of faith, as she steps out into the ministry you have given her. What a wonder these photos and poem were. Thank you for giving us that hope of birth from the sorrows!
Love really did reign that night, Debbie. I had people there that I already felt a bond with, and now there are more because I allowed myself to be humbled… Thank you for your prayers dear one.

“Have you ever experienced the birth of beauty from the soil of sorrows?” Oh Wendy, this poem, with its pictures was not only beautiful, it ministered. How many have indeed experienced those times of darkness and loneliness and experienced the birth of beauty from the soil of sorrows? I know that I have, and that those dark times are the ones that led me ever closer to the Lord, allowing Him to lead me through the fire of refinement.
Thank you, my beloved sister for sharing this lovely poem that is sure to birth beauty in those who read it.
Much love to you, and many blessings,
Cheryl
Thank you, Cheryl, for your lovely comment! I sure don’t look forward to trials, but I can look forward to His grace in each and every one. God is good!

thank you Wendy…so nice to hear!
ah yes, Wendy, I have indeed. Your photos are exquisitely paired with your words. Thank you, my friend.
Thank you, Mary Ann! I am always glad to hear when someone has allowed a burden to be turned into a blessing.

I am glad to hear you got to share your testimony–may seeds grow in hungry hearts, and may faith grow for those who already believe!
Yes, yes, yes, I have seen beauty come from sorrows. Only God has that kind of transformational power to bring life from death.
Beautiful images and words. Fittingly, I have had a fog over my brain today. I have needed the light of the Son to burn through it so I can shine again!
Grace and peace to you–Alison
I agree, Alison, that only God can truly transform tragedy into triumph. I was reading about Joseph today, and how he told his brothers that what they intended for evil God intended for good. We have the same God as Joseph had. I hope that your fog turns into a rainbow!

I am experiencing right now this beauty for ashes – and my soul finds healing and refreshment in the fact that my Saviour is bigger than my wounds can ever be. Lovely poem, Wendy.
Melody, you are a wise woman to remember that. We get in trouble when we focus on the hurt instead of the Hero… Hugs!

I’m thrilled that your testimony time with the women went well! How wonderful! “Thank you, Lord, for using Wendy!” It sounds like it was a truly special time.
Your poem is evidence that there is a testimony there, behind the words, of God’s faithfulness, even through the hard times.
Thank you, Daisy! Hard times can be used by us to draw closer to Him or to reject Him. I have learned the hard way to draw closer to our gracious God – rather than run. Hugs for your support!

Your poem is full of hope and the photos, especially the sunrise, are lovely.
Thank you, Imelda! I look forward to seeing more of the sun as spring approaches…
Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂
So beautiful and inspiring, both the photos and your words. 🙂 Elizabth
Thank you, Elizabeth! Good can come from even the most difficult circumstances. xo
