You never change
I’m glad about that
Don’t get me wrong
but sometimes I envy that about You
Sometimes this roller coaster ride
really gets to me…
I long for the straight stretch at the end
where it slows down
so I can see what’s up ahead
I’m not a thrill seeker
and surprises can get wearisome
Help me to ride out
the peaks and the depths
of uncertainty and adversity
Cause You never change
and after all –
You know what’s up ahead
even if I’m trembling
on the turnarounds
and beleaguered
by corkscrews
and double loops
You’ve got this theme park
called life
all under control –
Thank You!
I couldn’t bear it
if I thought this ride
didn’t end well.

Amazing photos and poem, dear Wendy! I am not a good roller coaster person . . like things nice and level and slow! Boring, aren’t I? 🙂 I might tend to worry about the future, but He seems to keep me too occupied during my days to be able to. He’s sneaky, in good ways, like that. God bless you and yours and all the days ahead!
Debbie, boring sounds good to me! I can always drum up some fun in the garden or on a hike but I like things calm around the house. His ways are certainly above ours…so if He allows some drama into the mix – I need to rest in his grace.

Oh my beloved sister, this was absolutely beautiful on many different levels…
* There was beauty in your vulnerability, as you spoke of your fears…
* There was beauty in your desire to be like God – never changing…
* There was beauty in your faith, that though life can be turbulent and full of spins
and dips and curves, it’s all in God’s hands…
* There was beauty in the photography, which displayed the frozen, wintry image that
seems to represent those times in life where it seems that we are just standing still,
unable to grow, sometimes unable to move because of the fears and hardships
we endure…
* There was beauty in the picture of that leaf, thawed from the long winter, with
greenery surrounding it, ready to grow and flourish once again…

Oh Cheryl, thanks for your strengthening words! Hugs! I am giving my personal testimony at our women’s club tomorrow night and I think this is what motivated this poem… Group situations are not my favorite place to be. But we are not comforted and healed to keep it all to ourselves. I wrote it out to read – so I’ll just pretend I’m in my den reading out a draft blog post. 😉 Just kiddin’ “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.”

Wendy, I have no doubt that your words will bless every woman there. Don’t forget what the Lord told Moses, when he protested that he wasn’t good at public speaking…
But Moses pleaded with the LORD, “O Lord, I’m just not a good speaker. I never have been, and I’m not now, even after you have spoken to me. I’m clumsy with words.”
“Who makes mouths?” the LORD asked him. “Who makes people so they can speak or not speak, hear or not hear, see or not see? Is it not I, the LORD? Now go, and do as I have told you. I will help you speak well, and I will tell you what to say.” (Exodus 4:10-12 NLT)
You just go ahead and walk in His strength. He has called you for such a time as this. I can’t wait to hear how He used your words to minister to others!

Wonderful poem and great photos!! Some days I can relax and let whatever happens happen, other days I’m full of plans for the future. In both cases, I try not to worry and stay positive. 🙂 It doesn’t always work, but I try. And I’m very thankful for having a good life that allows me to think about the past/present/future! Many people don’t have any other option than to live day by day.

Ah, how my heart resonates with this one! I get tired of the roller-coaster, and impatient with myself that I am still where I am and not further, toward who I long to be. I’m so glad to know the One who is always constant!!
I agree that there is so much peace in remembering that He does not change. Melody, it only seems like yesterday that I was in the roller-coaster ride as a teen, and now I get to enjoy one with my own three teens! 😉 But I can trust the One who runs this carnival.
