Hearth of Home
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hearth of home
A shelter from shattered shards of ice
A place of restful repose and reflection
where strength is supped
before sent back out
into heart hardening harshness
But even glaciers have melting tips
that soften and slip with others
into peopled pool of humanity
May we don Grace’s garments
as we seek the drops of Divinity in others
who walk along frigid freeways
in search of summer
For we have a common Creator
whose desire is to restore and reunite
that which was broken and banished
Winter will wear away
when spring sings its wedding song
welcoming summer’s bride
as she walks the aisle
of the garden
once frozen.
This poem was inspired by the warmth of the late afternoon sun shining through the trees onto our home. We don’t see much of the sun in the wintertime.
Lovely, as always. Love the bridal connection, and the ‘even glaciers’ ideas especially!
Thank you, Melody! I decided to change the word icebergs to glaciers after your comment, as it fits better…I should know better considering I can see part of a glacier from my garden. 😉 Hugs! Glaciers need us to see the best in them. It was love the drew me to faith – not fire and brimstone!
Oh, my – excuse the faux pas. So I didn’t quote you very accurately – I still like the idea. I love that you can see a glacier from your garden. Do you think I’ll get one in my heaven-garden some day? 🙂
Oh, Melody, you can misquote me anytime you like as long I can use it to edit my post! 😉 (I need an editor…) I actually thought that was what I’d written at first. If you’re wanting a glacier view in your “new” garden I’ll bet you’ll have one. I want birds and butterflies that let me get really close to them…
Whatever the view, I guarantee it will be mind-blowing! 😀
I always enjoy your wonderful ice photos…wonderful words to go with it!
Thank you, Heather! I can’t wait to see what you’ve posted on your blog as I have been loving your snow pictures… Our snow has melted but I stocked up on pictures until the next snowfall.
Oh Wendy, this is so delightfully uplifting! May we all aspire to seek — and find — drops of divinity in greater humanity, perhaps even lead them to the sun!! Hugs and Blessings to you, as always.
Thank you! I have noticed that people really respond to being thought the best of. We’re all in need of grace and none of us can rightly judge another. The “Sun” came to save – not to condemn. It is not easy to think positive; but, it is better.
Ice is nice – in a photo! Your gift to bring so much from a scene through your lens is surely divinely inspired. Thanks, yet again
Thanks for your kind words! I agree that ice looks better in a photo than on a sidewalk…or road!
I love the idea of our home being a haven for each family member…a warm hearth near which to rest. I also love the idea of seeing those drops of the divine in others. Choosing to look for the good, rather than the evil, will surely help the good to grow! Enjoy the sunshine! Blessings–Alison
Alison, would you believe that we have not had sun (except for 1 hour) since I took that picture 9 days ago? We are buried in fog today. Enjoy your sunny climate for my family and me. It’s going to be glorious, here, when it returns!
I am always rewarded when I choose to “look for the good”. It is not a natural thing to do and takes a conscious choice to do it… I miss out when I don’t.
Beautiful!
Thank you. Nice to meet you!
Blessings right back at you!! 😀
Lovely. The songs in spring are sweeter for the ice of winter. MWA
True, my dear Ian, very true!
May we don Grace’s garments . .I need to wear grace like that! 🙂 Thank you for this inspiring and hope filled poem with photos! God bless you and send you sunshine soon!
Thank you, Debbie! Ian was just out driving our daughter to youth group, and he said that you can actually see the water droplets in the air – it is so thick! I gardened in it today and at least it’s not raining or buggy… 😉
Evening dear Wendy-Lee!! Is that so your house and tree?? Ohhh that is just too dreamy. I would love a tree like that in my garden! Hugs and Night from Oz……Paula x
I’m so late getting onto the computer, today, that you are probably awake by now… Yes, Paulama, that’s our tree. We bought this place mostly because of the landscape. There are trees all over the place, here. Morning hugs to you!
