Lord of the Redeemed

Lord of the Redeemed

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lord of the sky
Ruler of the sea
Grant me wings
that I may be
free from sin’s cages
buoyed by your love
breath of Spirit
descend like a dove
Your compass sure
that bids me straight
Though battered by storms
I’ll find the gate
Gate of Heaven
My sins released
I spy now the Pearl
The entrance to Peace.
Wendy/2013
My daughter noticed this poem in my draft pile ( wrinkled papers in a satchel I use while she is at piano lessons…)  She asked me to read it to her.  She liked it! So here it is – upgraded from the paper pile.
Blessings of Peace ~ Wendy
What brings you peace in the middle of a storm?
  1. Breath prayers, worship, playing through the hymn book and praying through the Psalms. And cooking – I call it Kitchen Therapy. 😉
    1. Mary Ann, do you play piano? It brings me peace when my daughter plays her piano for me… I love your idea of kitchen therapy! 🙂
  2. You have a very wise daughter, Dear Wendy. This is truly beautiful! Witnessing others who struggle through this life but manage to maintain such poetic grace brings everything into perspective for me — and leaves me with the gift of a peaceful mind…
    1. Thank you for your lovely comment! I agree that watching others walk with grace is inspiring. One particular friend comes to mind… she simply gets better and never bitter through the many storms she has encountered. You’d love her as I do.
    1. Thank you, Gabi!
      I always enjoy your pictures and wish that I could read the words – but I only know how to read English and some French.
  3. “that I may be free from sin’s cages…”–this line of yours reminds me of our family’s verse last night: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” –Galatians 5:1–Amen!!
    In the middle of a storm…I go back and read old journals, showing me God’s faithfulness. I go for a walk or exercise to release some of the physical tension. I pray with my husband, reminding me that we are not alone in our storm. I listen to music of praise, because God is sufficient, omnipotent, omniscient, and ever-loving. I remember previous storms and know that I have drunk deeply from his grace before, and that it is always there. I can so vividly remember a very, very rough patch during V’s residency that was the hardest trial our marriage ever faced, and I remember the uncertainty of a pregnancy that ended in miscarriage–and in those two stormy parts of life, I have felt the love and protection of God the *most*. Praise Him!
    I am so glad your daughter found that poem! I love talking about Jesus with my children, and seeing them beginning to understand in their hearts.
    Blessings today–Alison
    1. Alison, I have noticed, too, that He holds us closest to his heart as we go through “stormy parts of life”. I may not see it at the time – but as I look back I see His arms of mercy in it…
      I am remembering your family as I pray for potential transition in ours also. Hugs!
    1. Laurie, I am always curious about books – so I Googled the title and found this interesting quote: “We are not a body with a soul. We are a soul with a body.” It sounds like an awesome read! If I ever get through my reading pile I will keep my eyes open for that one too…
        1. That’s always good to hear, as I have struggled through some classics whose rewards were very hard earned. ie The Cost of Discipleship and Knowing God 😉 I prefer not to have to work quite so hard…
  4. Your words are wonderful, Wendy!
    Sometimes during a bad storm I can’t find peace, but when the storm is past it comes. The Lord brings it. Joy comes then, too, as joy comes in the morning after tears in the night.
    Loving blessings to you and all here!
    Maria
    1. Maria, I agree that often we just have to hold on during a storm and choose to trust that calm will come again… I failed a mini-test today, as I called the toilet a name when it overflowed… 😉 But I am thankful for an alert conscience and grace!
          1. “He who is faithful in little is faithful in much.” – This tells me that I need to keep my guard up even if I think something is trivial… It all adds up. Hugs!
  5. I love it, Wendy! Lovely rhythm, almost like a lullaby in my ears–beautifully soothing to me, as I hustle through my afternoon! God bless you–love, sis Caddo
    1. Caddo, I’m glad someone is hustling through the afternoon… I am a reluctant mover today – but I’ll go rustle up some vittles for the gang shortly. Hunger is a good motivator! 😉
  6. Lovely words, much better on the internet than crumples in a satchel. What speaks peace to me in a storm – strangely, it is a beautiful silence, no words – that wells up inside and fills me full; I know that silence is God’s very Presence, Wendy, hope that makes sense to you!
    1. Indeed it does. I hear him best in the middle of the night when I wake up and the silence around me allows me to really sense his Presence. It is precious.
    1. I’m not sure why – but this much appreciated comment came up on the wrong post. 🙂 Thank you for your kind words anyways…
