Winter Blessings ~ Wendy

I really enjoyed taking snow pictures during our December snowfalls.  It’s fun dreaming up haiku for each.  Once I see a picture, I like, the imagination wheels start turning and don’t stop until I’ve arrived somewhere new.

What makes your imagination wheels turn?

  1. Running and walking and coffee get my imagination going, and I always have much to write about whenever I hear songs of praise, read God’s Word, or just be with my children and family! Lots of things, then!

I love the snow pictures. The crystalline details, the blankets of white, the crisp coldness. Maybe I should post my recent blue sky/green palm tree picture with its own haiku…your poetry and photography are very inspirational to me! Have a lovely weekend! We are still enjoying pseudo-summer down here. Tennis and playground this morning, and I just got up from a family nap–rare and wonderful!

    1. Caddo, my heart goes into my throat when I see something I want to photograph. Then I get all clumsy and have to try several times before I get one that’s not blurry!! You’re a friend after my own heart. 😉 Hugs!

  2. The wheels of my imagination …they run all the time. When I was in middle school at the Teen Arts Festival Day…I had a table. I sat with a pen and paper. I said give me a subject I’ll write you a poem. That was in the late 1960’s. I enjoy many styles and forms. I have a page on my site that explains ‘lunes’ An American style haiku form that you might also enjoy. You might also like the Elfje.

Thanks for sharing your haiku and photos.

    1. That would be a blast to write poetry on the spot like that…

You’ve got me curious to check out “lunes” ! I’ll be over there shortly. Thanks for the heads up on it.

Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy 🙂

  3. Beautiful pictures and words. I really love snow and ice. We don’t get much here but snow is forecast for Monday, so I might have some new inspiration for my winter haiku. It has been grey for too long. I think my imagination is stimulated most strongly and most often by nature in all its forms; by the tiny details at my feet and the vastness of the sky.

    1. Thank you for your great answer to the question. I agree that nature is inspiring. Enjoy writing snowy haiku when the snow flies…

Blessings new friend ~ Wendy 🙂

  4. I loved that first one ( and all of them!) , the snowflake flowers bloom! 🙂 I love what you capture and see, all around you! God bless your winter writing and photography!

    1. Thanks, dear Debbie! Hugs! Do you sometimes take your camera with you on walks? I suspect that you’d have fun. Even when I take the dog out to the run, I slip my camera into my pocket – just in case…

  5. You get to see such beautiful things, Wendy- Lee! 🙂 it’s Sunday morning in Oz! Enjoy the rest of the weekend…..,,, hugs from me to you! ……. Paula xx

    1. Good morning Paulama! It seems so strange that I am unwinding at the end of the day and you are already starting the next one. Enjoy your warm weather… I’ve been dressing up in layers and I look like a stick person, that a child draws, with my skinny jeans sticking out the bottom of the bundle! 😉

Blessings dear Paula ~ Wendy xo

    1. Thank you, Melody! I like pretzels too… 😉 Are you having stormy weather, this weekend, where you live? CBC radio was commenting on the storms in eastern Canada… ( I listen to it in my kitchen.)

Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo (stay safe & warm)

      1. Wild wind and blizzard-like conditions created a hazardously plugged road. I got so stuck yesterday on the way to work it took 2 neighbours (who were very gracious!) and the better part of an hour to shovel me out…the very reason why we prairie folk need to keep emergency equipment with us in our vehicles! 🙁 It has been far worse south of us – lots more snow and much more hazardous driving conditions – but this winter has been a far more difficult one to deal with than the past few, that’s for sure!

        1. Wow! You prairie folk make us islanders look wimpy… white stuff on our roads has been known to cause meetings to be canceled and schools closed for the day. Glad to hear you have good neighbors!

          1. That I do! Hey – I just saw some pics of the storms on the east coast – make my getting stuck story sound REALLY lame. Theory of relativity in action! 🙂

          2. I guess west coast islanders get bumped down to “wimpy lame”! I follow a couple of lovely blogs from the east coast – I hope they aren’t stuck without power as so many there are… By the way – I’ve read the “Little House on the Prairie” series and you people are not lame at all! 🙂

          3. 🙂 Modern conveniences make my life so easy in comparison. There are still some challenges (especially in my garden!) and I’m really hoping that all of our cold weather hasn’t done any damage to my perennial collection…

  6. Weatherman promises snow on the way, but, still waiting. You have inspired me to take my camera and prowl around my rather large and untamed garden when it does arrive, lovely pictures.lovely words.
