Weathered Feathers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wonder if this unsettled weather
jargogles the ones who wear feathers?
One moment it’s raining
The next one it snows
What will it do next?
Only He knows
I wonder if these birds of the feather
brabble over things like the weather
Or do they just bear it
choosing simply to rest
trusting the Father
to feather their nest?
Wendy/2012
During my Christmas break we had snow, rain, wind, and fog. The weather switched its expression as quickly as these little birds can move about. I wondered what they felt about this erratic behavior…?
PS – This poem was inspired, in part, by a post I read by a blogger friend I follow… I just love fun “new” words and I love birds! Here is the link*
Feathered Nest Blessings ~ Wendy
Aaaahh…trusting the Father….something a little more of us could do☺
Economic uncertainty in the world has caused me to remember the old song: “He owns the cattle on a thousand hills…” It is not a natural instinct to trust – it’s a choice. When I sing the lines of that song to myself I feel my shoulders relax. 🙂
I so can understand…when you stated economic uncertainty…I don’t think we have seen anything yet…unfortunately. Just clinging to the Father….
Blessings for his children,
Laurie
Yes, clinging “one day at a time – tomorrow will look after itself.”
I especially love “jargogles”, Wendy–now, that’s an accurate expression if I ever heard one!! Thanks for the link. Wishing you and your family a Blessed New Year–love, sis Caddo
I agree, Caddo, that jargogles really looks the part! Poets and words really go together well too… You always amaze me with your vast vocabulary. I need to read the dictionary at bedtime. 😉
So glad to read your poetry again after your Christmas break. Trust is a word I needed to hear again today. Besides the economic uncertainty you alluded to in the comments, which we also see, there are elements of my husband’s career that we can “only” lift up in prayer and trust. I would be a fool to forget even for a second God’s provision thus far. Our feathers may be weathered, but we have known God’s love and care all the way.
Happy New Year to you! I hope to get back to writing soon! –Alison
Alison, you are so correct to acknowledge “God’s provision thus far”. Life can sure get painful; but He does not abandon us even if our feelings tell us otherwise. We’ve had to tighten our belts several times over the years and it has not been fun… but we never went hungry. Thank you for your welcome back! Hugs! I will not be posting everyday as I discovered that I had missed spending time in my sewing studio.
Yay! New words! Only poets would dare… 🙂 Feed those birds of yours extra well for me, would you? 🙂
Melody, you and Caddo are so talented at using vibrant vocabulary. You both inspire me to expand mine. I am keeping our cat well fed so she’ll leave the birds alone. Our elderly neighbors have several feeders out for the birds… and they seem to be eating a lot of natural stuff in our gardens. I am enjoying them!
