A Christmas Wreath

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Round and round
the months roll by
Christmas is once again
here
Remember God’s love
is much like a wreath
never-ending
and casting out
fear.
Wendy/2012
I made this wreath at a country community hall with other ladies from the area. ( We used local hay.)  It has lasted over 15 years!  My second son was two months away from his due date to be born as I worked on it. Crafting kept my mind off my sore back…  I am taking some days off of blogging, until Saturday, to bake up a storm for the family and work on a birthday gift for my husband! Merry Christmas to all of you!  I look forward to visiting  you all when I come back…
  1. Merry Christmas to you too and happy Winter season! That wreath is so beautiful, I am crazy over seasonal crafts. I wish I had a little workshop to store all of them! That’s amazing you’ve had that wreath for so long; just goes to show all of the love and work put into it.
    1. Thank you! I wish I could keep the intensity of the creative spirit I have whenever I’ve been expecting a child… that’s when I have made most of our quilts! 🙂
      Blessings and I’m glad to meet you ~ Wendy
  2. May there be great joy in your Christmas! Enjoy the baking and time with loved ones. We let our kids open gifts from us this morning since we will be at my parents’ house Christmas Eve and Day. With my husband and little A under the weather (and L possibly fighting it off), new Play-Doh, writing/craft paper, and a solar powered Physics set were just the thing! It is so very good to be all together and to know we each have the love of Jesus in our hearts!
    Merry Christmas, friend! –Alison
    1. How timely, Alison, that you mentioned “joy” as that is what our pastor preached on today! 🙂 Enjoy your visit with your family and make great memories to savor throughout the coming New Year! Those gifts sound so creative and inspiring. I love seeing children’s faces as they open gifts…
      1. Thank you! We stayed home from church–hoping to make it tomorrow afternoon before heading up to my parents’ house. My dear husband is napping and feeling the worst of the four of us…colds are a tradition I could do without! L also received a lined journal, mechanical pencils, a lap desk, and reading light…happy boy. He said he is going to write a book. 🙂
  3. I love the circular theme of the wreath, Wendy–so beautiful. I’ll be thinking of you baking, and looking forward to seeing you again! Happy Christmas and Boxing Day to you! God abundantly bless you and your family–much love, Caddo
    1. God has no beginning or ending…always was and always will be – gives me great comfort! Having sweet friends like you, Caddo, also is a great gift and comfort. 🙂
  4. Hi! Thank you for following my blog. I’m glad that I found yours. Your wreath and poem here are beautiful. Enjoy baking and spending time with your family! God Bless, Lori
    1. Thank you, Lori! I have always loved books and am happy to follow an author. We’ve saved all of our children’s books for their children – one day…!
      Blessings to you, new friend!
    1. Merry Christmas, Daisy! I hope you will be able to visit with your family this holiday. Ours are still at home so it’s easy for now… I am cherishing it!
  5. This is the 2nd post in a row that I’ve read referencing the effect of fear in our lives. Christmas is such a reason to let go of that emotion that only serves to paralyze our spiritual growth.
    1. Our family just came back from watching the Hobbit in 3D and fear certainly had to be battled in that story! We need to have Someone we can rely on to show up when we are overwhelmed and have fought all that we can… I like stories where fear is conquered!
      Thank you for noticing my reference to fear being cast out. May 2013 be a year that finds people walking in perfect love and not fear. Blessings ~ Wendy
  6. I didn’t know we could make wreaths out of hay! Wonderful Wendy .. .along with the poem and encouragement for us that perfect love casts out fear!
    God bless you during your time with family and creating!
    1. Thank you, dear Debbie! I enjoyed both hanging out with family and completing two presents. It’s so refreshing to relax! I hope your holiday was restful and fun too.
      Blessings dear friend ~ Wendy xo
