Shadow of the Rock
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There’s a place I call my refuge
it’s in the shadow of the Rock
He listens to my praise or petitions
if I but open my heart to talk
He’s kept me from breaking under burdens
when life empties a storm cloud on me
If I just submit to his providence
his rescue and deliverance I’ll see
Sometimes I carry all my sorrows
and droop like a snow laden tree
And just when I may snap as a branch
He calls me to rest and I’m free!
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
I took these pictures in our local mountains…
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about God as our shelter and refuge…as I review the school lockdown plan with my little boy…but know that God is our only true giver of a haven. I am thankful beyond words that our hearts can rest in Him now and forever. He owes us nothing but has given us everything.
I also love the snow pictures. It’s another 80 degree, sunny day here! Beautiful, just not very wintery!
Blessings to you this Monday! –Alison
Alison, your 80 degree weather sounds so cozy to me right now…I went to bed with a hot water bottle by my feet, as it was cold last evening. It snowed about six inches here during the night (our first snowfall this year). My kids are happy to see it. 🙂
Remember that the statistics for you ever needing the lock-down plan are very very minimal. It’s good to be prepared – but I think your children are safe. Mine need to be prepared for earthquakes… It seems there is something for everyone to watch out for…
Blessings to you dear friend ~ Wendy xo
As a little light-hearted aside – the first picture looks like a giant slice of Christmas cake!
Scottie 🙂
Yum! 🙂 I hope that is cream-cheese icing on top… it’s my favorite!
Each passing day makes me realize that God is the only constant in our lives. Most people who we think are our allies; turn against when the going gets tough.
Thank you for the snow pictures. I haven’t seen snow in about two years. Seeing your pictures brings up joyful memories of trekking in the snow.
Jade, I agree with what you are saying… only the Lord is 100% rock solid in love and faithfulness!
Such a wonderful poem, and scripture for us–thanks, Wendy!! And I could get lost in your photos!! God bless you–love, sis Caddo
Caddo, I’ve been lost, once, with some other hikers ( only for a couple of hours) and it is not a nice feeling… I never venture off trails anymore – ever!
Thank you and Blessings to you dear friend ~ Wendy xo
This was so so deep in His love and care .. His anointing. Brought tears as I think about those that storms have emptied on . ..who may be near to breaking. May they go to the Rock and find shelter there. God bless you, sweet friend, and the blessing you are!
I cannot imagine trying to go through trials without the Rock! I’d be ground up into dust in no time… Thank you so much for your kind comment, Debbie.
Hi Wendy-Lee! Your hometown is just magical!! Loved your poem! Enjoy your day! ….*HUGS* Paulama xxx
Good morning ( your time), Paulama! We woke up to tons of snow today. I’ll trade you some snowballs for some warm sunshine? Tonight it’s all icy outside! It’s cheery and bright though…
Blessings & hugs to you dear Paula ~ Wendy xo
Wow, great shots!! Nice poem!!
Thank you! There’s more snow pictures coming this week… no igloos! 😉
The pictures are wonderful!
Thank you, Sheryl! Even when it’s a gray day the snow can cheer it up.
Wonderful poem and pictures, Wendy! Indeed, the snow cheers up even the greyest of days. 🙂
Thank you, Calee! It’s funny how I have to squint when I look out the windows now that the sun is reflecting off the snow! We’re getting a break from the gloom…but I’m wearing extra clothes because it’s cold. 🙂
