Magnolia Magic

Magnolia Magic

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If I really believed in magic
you’ve surely cast a spell
And wonders of a Magic wand
your white velvet whispers tell
You entrance me with your beauty
and mesmerize me with your scent
There’s no other flower in the garden
once I’m caught up in you and spent
From one glory to another
you’ve enraptured me in your coils
And as time marches towards winter
even then your beauty’s not spoiled
But I don’t believe in magic
It’s only a folklore we share
I’ve spotted the Creator’s fingerprints
And observed them everywhere!
Ian bought us two identical magnolias for our 25th wedding anniversary, four years ago.   This is one of them.
  1. What a beautiful anniversary gift idea! Something growing, thriving, blossoming…obviously reflecting your marriage, too, if you are four years past your 25th!
    You warmed my heart again with memories of my sweet grandma with those magnolia pictures. The third anniversary of her passing was a few weeks ago, so she’s been on my mind more than usual. Isn’t it amazing how a single image, scent, sound, or even taste, can bring up so much into our minds?
    1. Thank you for the lovely comment, Alison! I agree that “a single image, scent, sound, or even taste, can bring up so much into our minds” Recently Ian suggested I take pictures of a birch tree that graces the lawn of a church we walk past regularly. Today I was thinking about what I would write about it when some nice memories of a neighbor’s tree, from over 35 years ago, popped into my mind…
  2. This was so beautiful and then to hear the back story, of the matching magnolia trees being an anniversary gift . ..well, that takes the cake! Thank you for blessing us like you do. So good to come here and be uplifted! God bless you!
    1. Thank you so much, Debbie! I am glad to hear that you feel encouraged when you visit here. I always find your poems calming to my spirit as they help me to focus on our Lord in a deep and meaningful way.
